The Capitol grounds in Charleston is beautiful and the area around it just as nice. Just watch your back a little as you wander onto the side streets. People very friendly.

Of course, our beautiful Capitol is the No. 1 visitor's stop in town. There is a BBT ATM on the first floor of the East Wing, next to the main entrance toTreasurer's Office where the flags are, by the door.

Many things are overlooked in West Virginia, but the State Capitol is not one of them. Possibly one of the most beautiful capitol buildings in the country, the gold dome is the perfect addition to the gorgeous mountain landscape. Lots of rich history too.

We didn't go inside because we visited on a Saturday, but the grounds are absolutely beautiful! This is well manicured and kept clean with a beautiful view across the street of the Kanawa River.

There is a museum in the capitol complex across the way from the capitol building itself that has activities for children. Just ask at the front desk when you go in.
