Beautiful place!

Great place to go for a stroll, the trails are convenient and pretty easy. There are also trails through the woods. They are all marked and you can go hard or just meander. They... read more

Went thinking there would be gardens. There was one small bunch of plants and some by the welcome center. Asked person walking a dog where the gardens were and she said there is a 2.7 mile loop for that. Walked it all and about all there was is trees and plants not flowers.

I volunteer at the gardens to keep the flowers and beds weed free and beautiful. The gardens has a lot of history related to it. It was a natural reservoir that provided Morgantown and Westover, WV with their water supply. in the mid 1970s, the government decided the water was not safe and drained the reservoir. Dr. Longnecker had the... More

The website made it seem like it was a botanical garden. Yes, eventually it will be one but they are still developing the plans for the construction. So pretty much it is swamp land with trails/boardwalk cut through it. It was a nice walk on a trail in the woods, that is all it was.

Over the years, I have seen a lot of improvements with the walkways and trails. They also recently finished a building and have plans to develop the site further with other areas for public use. They are also very busy with organizing various educational walks, lectures on wildlife, children activities and many other. I am lucky to live within a... More

Great place to go for a stroll, the trails are convenient and pretty easy. There are also trails through the woods. They are all marked and you can go hard or just meander. They are adding new things all the time, which makes it more of interest when walking. It would be so nice to see more plantings of native... More

Our dog loves his walks along the trails of the WVBG! Don't expect it to be a pristine botanical garden with meticulously-tended beds and guides to direct you. Get a map and explore, there are so many different types of trails and gardens. We were here several years ago and it's so much nicer now, with a visitors center, too.... More

Some of the pictures on the website made it seem much more like a botanical garden than it is. Yes, there are some pretty spots but for the most part, it is swamp land with trails/boardwalk cut through it. If you park outside the gate (after 4) it is quite the hike getting back to your car. Again, a nice... More

You can find different activities here if you know the schedules. It is a great place for families with young kids. It can be a great place to observe different types of wildlife, flowers, butterflies, etc.

This is a wonderful place to take an evening walk. There are multiple trails which can be taken and it is usually uncrowded.
