Not high waterfalls but they are quite impressive in their own right. We saw them first from the overlook on HWY 20, then at the visitors center the ranger told us we should go see them from river level if we had time. The road out to the river level overlook is a bit on the "I'm not sure we... More

My wife and I were visiting the area and wanted to enjoy all the sights in the Fayetteville, WV area. If you are not familiar with the area, make sure you stop at the Sandstone Visitor Center for directions so that you know how to get to the falls. You will need to drive to Hinton, WV, cross the bridge... More

It's a bit of a drive down the west side of the New River from Hinton. The park below the falls has the concrete restroom and a great series of trails and bridges going out to the New River. The view of the falls is beautiful.

Make sure you drive through Hinton, WV and follow the signs out the the falls. Nice parking lot, bathrooms ( bring hand cleaner as there is no running water in the bathroom). It's a beautiful place to walk the boardwalk out to the falls. People were fishing along the river, others were sitting in the rocks or benches just enjoying... More

Stop by with your camera and walk around. A lot of great spots for pictures. If your nearby and in the area it's definitely worth a visit

On the way to Sandstone Falls we stopped at the visitor center and learned a lot about the environment and the area. From there we enjoyed the 18 mile drive to the waterfalls. The last 4-6 miles were on a narrow stretch of road that runs parallel to the river. Be aware of on-coming traffic, everyone was very courteous. When... More

If you stop at the Sandstone visitor center, they'll tell you about some overlooks to get pictures of the falls. Don't waste your time with that, make the drive all the way around (it's a long drive on a very narrow road---you want to do this visit in bright daylight hours). The drive is way out of the way, but... More

We went way out of the way to discover this gem. I've never seen such a beautiful falls! You will have to hike out to the Falls to experience it. Once we reached it we couldn't believe the beauty and vastness. I've never been to Alaska but this is what I imagine it to look like.

I came across information while researching things to see on our way to Maine and found this. Wasn't real sure if we would like it, but man, it was worth the drive to get to it. It seems a lot of people fish right by the falls. Road gets narrow getting to it but had no problems at all. I'm... More

This was a beautiful and pleasant experience. We only went to see the falls. We did not fish, swim, etc. the hike was easy and was accessible. The parking lot needs to be paved. The road to and from the park is very narrow, but drivers were courteous. Please drive safely. A bonus was seeing the large amount of water... More
