While we were staying a weekend in Canaan Valley, we took a drive to visit Smoke Hole Caverns. The scenery is awesome. The gift shop was really nice and it had a place to get a bite to eat and tables outside. The tour lasted...More

We stopped by this attraction during a road trip to a resort a few hours away. The pictures online looked cool so we thought it'd be worth the stop. After looking through the gift shop, I was hesitant to make any purchases here as I...More

It was on my journey. I had some time. I took a tour. It is a beautiful cavern with a creek going through it. However, with big groups it can get cramped. The walkways are also muddy. It does have a few features that are...More

We enjoyed our tour of the caverns, which were beautiful, with many interesting features. Of course, there were the usual groan-worthy anecdotes about some of the odd shaped formations, but that is to be expected! I would recommend the tour to any age individual. There...More

Our tour guide was Donovan and he was very knowledgeable and entertaining. This is a beautiful cave, and he will tell you when you can touch something, and when you cannot. There are several opportunities in this cave for photos, which come out better than...More

I wasn't sure what to expect with a cavern tour but this was a lot of fun. We checked out the gift shop while we waited which had a really unique selection of things and a little snack bar. The caverns were so cool and...More

Lovely gift shop and snack bar. Food was good and staff was friendly. Clothing and other items were expensive. Did not do cavern tour because I have done several in many other places and I thought they were expensive in comparison.

The caverns at Smoke Hole are actually part of a much bigger enterprise, including log cabins, motel rooms, mini golf and a massive gift/clothing store. Smoke Hole Caverns were so called because Indians used the entrance to the cave to smoke their meats. Inside, you'll...More

This cave gets better as you continue your tour; that's all I want to say! However, I can't give it the highest rating because our guide (a very young man) needs better public speaking skills! Let me be clear: he definitely knew caves; he was...More

The Caverns, Lodges and Gift Shop are beautiful. We have stayed in the cabin's twice now for our anniversary. We have bought some great quality stuff in the Gift Shop.

Smoke Hole is a small little place that is just right to reconnect with friends, family or nature. There are lots of different options for cabin-style lodging that are all handled through the shop itself. Be sure to call ahead, reservations fill up fast! The...More
