Camero 2, Glad we read the review before setting off in the boat. The boat was built in 1997, which if it was a car would make it an R reg. We could also add a couple of other comments. When it rains hard a couple of the windows in the lounge have a small leak, and if your going to use the bath and shower you will need to get the tank pumped out if you have the boat for more than 3 days. It is small inside, but the plans and photo’s show it to be that.
After reading the reviews, we emailed cityboats and got no replies. Met Richard and he was a lovely bloke, and Henry? the rollup smoking instructor/mechanic a character. However, expectations managed we had a super week on this boat; I think it looks good; We realized the boat is not as fast as it looked so just cruised with the engine at 2000 revs and the engine didn't smoke at all or make the cabin smell. We traveled every inch of the southern broads and when we dropped the boat off got 10% of our fuel deposit back. Also the week, all in, was £600. A, admittedly newer, boat from anyone else was over half as much again, and they didn't have a bath. On the plus side, the fridge was excellent, cooker spot on, microwave worked fine it even had 240 volt sockets.
A cushion sorted out the hard seats and also raised the driving position to see above the screen edge.
Also, we agreed every night had a super sleep and found the bed really comfortable, which was a surprise as it didn't look it.
Never had to use the heating so can’t comment.
For this boats faults, when the suns out, your cruising with the top down and knowing everyone else has paid (considerably) more, non of the faults matter.
If we were to do the Southern Broads again, we agreed, we’d hire this boat again. Would we recommend it, weigh up the pro’s and cons.

We hired this boat September 2014. We previously read the reviews and had concerns so emailed Waterways Holidays. They reassured us that all the problems and faults had now been dealt with....No they hadn't!!
Henry (who was like our best friend when we arrived but ignored my partner when she said good morning to him on our return at the end of the holiday) showed us around the boat and its facilities and each time he said "It don't work".
Yes it is cramped and shabby, yes, the living accommodation does stink of diesel all the time and made all our clothes stink. We had concerns over health issues as diesel is cancerous to the skin.

The tv Ariel was chopped off by another boat as it dangled over the side going through an air vent into the cabin therefore we couldn't get a picture.and when your moored up during the hours of darkness on one of the broads free moorings its a long night with nothing to occupy your mind, we also couldn't get signals on our phones for most of the time on the broads.

The steering does not work when the boat is put into reverse making things really difficult.

I have obstructive sleep apnea and need to wear a mask to sleep but wasn't aware the boats battery will need charging every few hours by running the engine. (which smoked alot and made the back of the boat black where the exhaust was)

The boat also broke down one day and we had to call out city boats to come and fix it, we weren't too far away luckily so we only had to wait an hour for henry and co to turn up, they told us water had got into the diesel caused by condensation in the fuel tank.

The dials including the fuel dial don't work so you have no idea how much fuel you have at any time but henry reassured us we wont need to worry about that, i immediately knew this was fixed so they could charge us more for fuel on our return......and they did. we had paid £80 for fuel up front but was told we owed another £52 after henry dipped a stick in the tank to measure how much we had used. I doubt we even did 50 miles in the boat and we certainly did not spend all day every day driving the boat.

The broads is a lovely place to go and has some beautiful villages to visit but i would recommend not to hire the camero two or any of city boats vessels as they are all old and shabby and you will feel ripped off at the end of your holiday that you pay hard earned cash for.

Overall we made the most of our holiday but city boats are a joke and any good reviews about this boat you see will have been made by someone who works for city boats.

Here is a little video i made (in the style of henry) to help you make your mind up.

On first seeing the boat it was a bit of a shock... It gave the impression that it was not maintained as well as it should have been....On being shown round the boat prior to departing there were quite a lot of things that didn't work....It is not necessary to list these things....Apart from the sliding canopy....It could not be locked in the closed position ...The fastener on the starboard side was missing altogether and the port side consisted of a little piece of Bungee cord !!!!!! when it rained (as it did)..rain water on the cockpit seat was Not NICE !!!...In its day this must have been a lovely boat...But now its in need of a lot work to make her be a proud CRAFT again...I hope the yard will refurbish and refit the boat...But until then I cannot recommend it suitable for hire....

Another person who suffered from a holiday teamed with bad weather. Another person who wished for compensation. Another person who booked a bargain break........ C'est La Vie is a classic Broads Hire Boat, as modern as possible but clean, comfortable and good value for money. It is a shame that those people who have enjoyed many weeks and sort breaks aboard her this year fail to put their good comments on here, but hey ho, that's awful Trip Advisor for you! C'est La Vie is due out of the water soon to undergo her winter maintenance regime ready for the 2016 season.

well, having been asked to turn up at 10.30 am when we booked our boat we expected our arrival to be anticipated. It wasn't and furthermore we were treated like the company were doing us a huge favour by renting us a boat. The man that supervised the donning of life jackets and boarding of boat was incredibly rude, and would of benifitted hugely from becoming aquainted with a bar of soap. The boat had seen better days about 20 years before and we did spend some of our time feeling nervous about its river worthiness the rest of the time we were worried about being asphixiated by the engine fumes. Just as we started to relax a little it was time to go back and nobody helped us when we had to do a really difficult reversing manouvere into a very narrow space between two other boats on the riverside, although lots of staff observed. Perhaps they were hoping we would crash and they could make us pay for a replacement boat?
If you wish to have a trip out on the river take my advice and opt for another company to whom customer care means something.

This was an organised cruise by Warner's Leisure, transported by coach from Gunton Hall. Large boat, about 50 passengers, started off in centre of Norwich and cruised along River Wensum, under ancient bridges, good commentary, at times very much like Amsterdam canals. Then into the River Yare and finally into some of the Broads. Very interesting and a leisurely way of passing an afternoon.

Telephoned in advance to join Halloween tour and really looking forward to it. Arrived at base to find no-one in attendance. Realised then that tours must set off from Riverside Road instead of Thorpe St.Andrew. Shame they didn't tell me that on the 'phone! Too late to be able to get from Thorpe to Riverside.

We hired the boat out at around midday but by 3pm there was smoke/fumes coming from the rear of the boat. This was followed by a smoke into the seating area. We turned off the engine and drifted to side of river.
The whole experience was extremely scary especially as the youngest had her leg in plaster.
On return not a single apology from the gentleman collecting life jackets or an offer of a refund of our remaining time.
Cost for 3 hours on a boat £100!

We recently hired ~Duet 1 ~ For 1 week , but abandoned our trip after 2.5 days due to the appauling condition of the boat. There was a foul smell of diesel throughout , No toilet paper supplied , filthy carpets and upholstery, and human hair all over the place. If you like to holiday in a clean & tidy enviroment DO NOT consider this . Absolutely disgusting.

This customer obviously wanted a 5* cruise not a budget boating holiday on the Norfolk Broads. They failed to read the boating manual sent to them, which stated that we do not supply toilet paper, no doubt if we had it wouldn't have been suitable for their 5* bottoms.

Henry, who for some reason is employed by the Company, is rude, swears at customers and will try to extort extra monies out of customers.

Well here we have what is known as a professional complainer. This person made a complaint in July 2013 and was offered a free full day hire for the same vessel. After being unable to take up the offer for the rest of that season she asked if it could be taken over for the following season (2014) to which we said yes. They eventually turned up a year later and were given the boat they were originally promised 2 years ago! After barging through other waiting customers to take their vessel at 10 am they got under way. However our terms of business are 9 am until 5pm but they decided to take the vessel until gone 6pm. My husband called the number left on their booking form but they failed to answer so he took a vessel and went looking for them. In the meantime they returned and were asked to pay the extra charge all late-back customers are asked to pay to which the gentleman hirer was aggressive and refused saying he was entitled to his 8 hours! Henry DID not use any four letter words and we apologise if he seemed offensive but rules are rules and we did all we could for these PROFESSIONAL COMPLAINERS!

Took the 13:15 boat from Norwich Station Quay for a 3.75 hours trip to the broads and back. The boat was so crammed we immediately regretted getting on. Of our party of 6, only 3 of us managed to get a seat. The rest of us had to sit on steps (probably illegal since we were blocking the exits) or stand. Despite this, they still insisted on charging £15 per adult and £13 for our twelve your old. That's right THIRTEEN POUNDS for a kid who had to stand up most of the way!

Even if the boat hadn't been packed I doubt if it would have been too great a trip. The seats are too low down, all you see is reeds.

I've been on several tour boats on the Broads and this is by far the worst one. If you find yourself in Norwich and want to see the Broads then jump on the train a couple of stops to Wroxham where you can get a much more comfortable and spectacular trip
