We visited several lighthouses in Door County including the one at Cana Island. This was the largest and nicest one we visited. Not as big or impressive as Split Rock Lighthouse in MN but still interesting.

Late April 2017 we spent a week in Door County and enjoyed everyday. It was before heavy tourist season began and easy to enjoy the sights . A must-see on the list was Cana Island Lighthouse. It had been some years since we were there...More

As do all lighthouses, it has its own story to share. On beautiful grounds. Very funny little tractor with back bed to haul you across to Cana Island. You'd have pretty wet feet otherwise. Yes, it was worth the trip.More

Thank you for your review. We knew when the water kept raising in Lake Michigan that we needed to find a way for visitors to access the island without upsetting the DNR. Thanks to several volunteers, we try and keep the island accessible through wagon...More

Kids loved being pulled by the tractor to cross the flooding area. My son and I crossed the water barefoot on way back to experience both(ouch, those rocks). A huge bull snake crossed the path in front of us and scared me but neat to...More

Thank you for your review. You crossed Lake Michigan by tractor and wagon :) Many families this summer have also enjoyed a ride across Lake Michigan to Cana Island. Even better is the tractor drivers are all volunteers for the Door County Maritime Museum.

The lake level has risen so the causeway is moderately flooded. To carry guests across they take a tractor and pull a wagon. Really quite fun! My kids loved that. It's a standard late 1800s light house. Children under 5 are not permitted to climb...More

There is a tractor to take you to the island. You and walk but the water is cold. The donation for the tractor is $2.00 a person then it is $5.00 a person to be on the island. If you want to go up in...More

Thank you for your review. There is no cost to take the family friendly tractor and wagon but they do ask for donations. A good portion of the island admission charge goes right back into the Cana Island Lighthouse restoration efforts. We are redoing the...More

Luckily i read beforehand that the water levels were high so we had proper footwear. I wish i would have brought warmer clothes!!! It was very windy and chilly the afternoon we visited. You usually can walk over to the island but the water is...More

Thank you for your review. We love the opportunity for visitors to walk across a rock lake bed to get to Cana Island but with high waters we have added an occasional wagon ride to help get visitors over. The wagon is available with volunteer...More

Well I have to say I think this was one of the nicest places we went. Being that the causeway can be flooded over....it wasn't when we went but the water would of been to cold to walk through so they have a very nice...More

Thank you for your review! We are also in a multi-million dollar restoration effort on Cana Island. Hopefully this summer we will be able to restore the outbuildings and then work on the inside of the keeper's house. Our goal is to make this available...More

What are admission fees for the island and the climb? Will the wagon be running 9/12-14, or will we need to wade?
