The priest who designed this was truly gifted with vision to see in his mind what he wanted. It must have been an amazing amount of time to collect all the different stones and shells in this place. it really is beautiful.

We were travelling to the great river road for a drive and stopped here. It is a shrine constructed by a Priest who finished his work in 1930. It's an amazing example of outsider art that has endured for 87 years. We visited on an...More

Very nice place to visit. It was hot the day we were there but took a short trip around the Grotto. Very beautiful. Well worth the stop.

this is a unique place to see how one person can spend so much time collecting stones ,shells and other items of that nature and to put them together to create either a art piece or a custom design. I am not sure that little...More

Hard to believe the dedication of the person who built this. I have often stopped here (when in the area) just to contemplate, and admire the work that went into this.

After hearing about the Dickeyville Grotto for years we decided to check it out. This is an outdoor sculptural treat subject to the whims of weather, so bear that in mind. Wonder around & study the many rocks and china bits carefully pieced together in...More

This is one of those little, out of the way treasures that you can come across when traveling. One of the few things I've ever gone live on Facebook for...but that really could not capture this amazing structure or the beautiful garden in back. Really...More

We'd always heard about it, so we had to stop here when we were in the area. Quite a place. A bit bizarre to think about one man putting so much effort into creating a shrine.
