Great experience, fun camping!

Although it is a permit required state park, the winding drive from entrance to the lake itself is beautiful! Fall colors abound, and the beach at the lake is more deserted than during summer months. Wildlife everywhere and just abrealxing time to sit and enjoy Mother Nature.

While in the area visiting Taliesin and House on the Rock, we decided to spend a late afternoon swimming in one of the lakes at Governor Dodge State Park. On July 4th weekend it was busy, but not unpleasantly so. The beach is clean and the water clear and the other swimmers friendly. Very glad we stopped and look forward... More

I've been to Governor Dodge two times now. One time in August and one time in December. For a small State Park it's really nice. The lake and beaches provide plenty of opportunities and swim and canoe and there are enough trails to keep you busy for two days or three days. I had a ton of fun camping here... More

Many great hiking trails with diverse terrain. Camp sites were beautiful. Will plan to check this park out again.

We visited for the candlelight hike and it was fantastic. Luminaries line one side of the 1.5 mile Lakeview Trail. There are a few spots when a flashlight was handy so as not to trip on tree roots, but most of the time we kept it turned off. Some people had glow sticks/necklaces/etc., which was fun to see. The weather... More

Came to the state park with my friend who took my hiking into the forest part of the park and the view is just amazing! He had a pass so the attraction was free but there was so many people sunbathing and enjoying the heat and swimming in the lake. There was people on their boats and it was such... More

This state park has it all. Beaches, trails, canoe and kayak rentals. Fishing and swimming. You probably could not even walk on the main road for 8 hours and walk it all. Camping numerous spots. They even have winter camping sites, for those die hard campers. It's just a beautiful state park.

My favorite State Park in Wisconsin. Multiple hiking trails. Hills & valleys. Splendid driftless landscapes. Clean beaches with well maintained bathrooms and picnic areas. A gem! Spacious camping sites. Beautiful views throughout the park.
