They do a great job, learned so much. I learned about their language and what words in our language come from theirs, I learned about the history.

The Hocking Family has created the most wonderful adventure back in time. We visit every year and learn something new each time. Wild Rice, wild wintergreen, fire-starting, underfloor heating, fishing at night are all the things we learned about this year. I cannot say enough good things about this family and their museum. Thank you for teaching us the native... More

This little place, a reconstruction of a pre-contact Ojibwe Indian village in the woods of northern Wisconsin, is a small family business lovingly maintained by Charlotte Hockings and her family. It is a hands-on experience, where you learn not only the story of physical objects and their production (canoes, arrows, wigwams) but how these items fit into Ojibwe culture. Games,... More

For my birthday I decided to tour the Waswagoning Ojibwe Village and was very glad I did. On this guided tour I was able to get a glimpse into the traditional Ojibwe lives because our tour guide Ernest's expertise. His enthusiasm for his heritage was inspiring as he talked about the resourcefulness and use of all things in nature. It... More

My wife and I stopped by here after reading about it in a Moon handbook for Wisconsin and we were not disappointed. It is a little off the beaten path but well worth it. The admission was $7 each (old geezer rate is $1 off I guess! :) ) and it was worth every cent. A tour had just started... More

I was really looking forward to visiting this site and I wasn't disappointed. Perfect weather on a perfect day. Our guide was the grandson of the original land owner. He assisted his family in making the tour sites. It was authentic and original, a hands-on experience in the open woods. Just be sure to bring bug spray and cash as... More

Guided tour of museum type displays and outdoor native american indian village compound. Lots of walking on uneven terrain. Hard to impossible to push a wheelchair. Long walk back from end of tour. They even welcomed our dog on the outdoor tour! Great tour guides- really second to none!

Our college group stopped for a tour during our trip to Lac du Flambeau. The main operator of the village opened up the village just for our group. She was extremely knowledgable about the Native traditions. We started the tour in the little shop that boasted several Indian made products. The tour guide was remarkable. She showed us how the... My husband and I first visited here with our daughter many years ago. Last weekend we made the visit with our granddaughter (previously brought another granddaughter). She is 10 and was totally engaged. She had "written" a report on the Ojibway culture for school and was excited to hear more about it and actually see some of the things she... More
