I live in Manitowoc, so I visit the Rahr-West Museum several times each year. I stopped on this occasion to see the traveling exhibit Documerica. It is great that the Rahr-West is able to bring these exhibits to our town. The exhibit was very interesting. The permanent art exhibit is always nice to see and the mansion is spectacular, especially... More

We happened upon this lovely historical mansion while visiting Manitowoc. The tour of the mansion was self guided, and photography was allowed. The entire mansion was such a pleasure to tour! Each room exquisitely designed and preserved. The woodworking skills demonstrated throughout the mansion, were breathtaking! Definitely worth seeing, allow a minimum of an hour to enjoy every aspect. The... More

The fee is by donation (you can visit for free) There is a pretty good art gallery inside the museum and mansion. The interior of the mansion has been gutted in some places for use as gallery space but some rooms have been left intact. Most of the larger rooms have modern wallpaper so that it won't distract from the... More

Beside the contemporary art galeries at the first floor you will be impressed by the 17 rooms in the house plus the amazing craftmanship along with the pieces of last century art spread all over the house

This place has beautiful woodwork and windows, just walking around in this place is stunning. They have changing art displays in the basement gallery and up in the mansion there are permenant displays. The cost is by donations but so worth a few bucks.

A very good mansion to visit. It is totally restored and has beautiful woodwork. You are able to see the main floor and the upstairs bedrooms which now hold various art work. Adjoining the mansion is an art museum that was having a special exhibit while we were there. We spent about 1 1/2 hours between the mansion and the... More

We came here looking for something air-conditioned to kill some time on a hot day. There is a small art museum attached, but to me the main attraction was the mansion itself. Beautifully restored and furnished. Interesting photo opportunities.

This small town museum is great for smaller group showings and specific programs. It is neat, quiet, well-lighted, and has a friendly staff. Donations accepted. It also has a replica of the piece of the Russian Sputnik that fell in this town back in the late 50's. A novelty!

Since it is no cost it was an enjoyable experience. The Spudnik connection makes it interesting for even the non art fans.

The mansion is very nice. The art gallery wonderful. Personnel very friendly. We spent over 90 minutes looking over all that is offered.
