Browsing the museum while waiting for the tour to start was very interesting in itself. Our tour was small with a very knowledgable guide. We received information on the how, why and who were the founders of the Milton House, the part this played in the Underground Railroad and the customs of hosting guests at the time. A tour of... Went to Milton House after finding a deal on Groupon. It was well worth it. Learned about an entrepreneur who build the house. Also learned about the underground railroad as they had been part of this during the abolitionist days. Fascinating to walk where runaway slaves crawled to safety and to read some of the documents that verify the authenticity... More

It was an interesting visit and very educational regarding the history of Milton and the Underground Railroad. Our only disappointment was the guide. She spoke entirely too fast and words all just garbled together. That was true even for the younger children to understand. We have been to many museums in Williamsburg, James River Plantations, Washington, D.C. , Gettysburg, and... More

This small but wonderfully interesting museum should be a must visit if you are in the Milton, WI area. Part of the Underground Railroad, it gives you an idea what run-a-way slave had to go through to get to Canada..

Very interesting & educational. Some areas might be difficult for tall people to get through as they are underground with not much head room. Also, some paths are very narrow, It was very interesting to learn about Milton's roll in the history of slavery.

Our favorite part of this museum was definitely when we got to walk through the underground tunnel. That was so cool. The rest of the tour was also really interesting, too, and this is such an incredible place to learn about and see! Everyone in our group liked it a lot!

We spend time in the Edgerton area Groupon provided the added incentive to visit this time. We were pleasantly surprised to find such an interesting museum in a relatively small town of Milton (more correctly Milton Junction). The building has been mostly preserved as it was in mid-1800s and is unique by way of its design and construction. Be sure... More

We found this museum on TripAdvisor and arrived unsure what we would find. We loved what we found. The hexagonal coaching hotel is fascinating and contains many working objects that people used for entertainment in the late 1800s (music maker, early 3-D viewer, etc) - our guide really made them come alive. The Underground Railroad tunnel is astonishing, as was... More

We learned a lot about the settlement of Wisconsin, about how inns worked in the 19th century, and about the underground railroad. Group was age 10 through 70, and we all found it interesting.

Rob provided me and a friend with a very informative tour of this well-maintained slice of 1800s life, with an incredible array of knowledge and facts at his disposal. Could answer any question. Highly recommend, it is one of the only tourable underground railroad sites in Wisconsin. Would be great for anyone with an interest in Civil War history, or... More
