MKE airport has a hidden gem in the public main concourse (before TSA screening) where you can kill time and learn about aviation, Gen. Billy Mitchell, Capt. Sijan, and Capt Jim Lovell. Also, numerous model planes, photos, airport history, and it's FREE!

I make it a habit to get to the airport early each time I fly, and frequently I go into the Gallery of Flight exhibit. Such a nice look at Milwaukee's history . . . and a great review of how flight has progressed over the years.

Nice history of the local area and contribution to flight. A little small, but not unexpected for a small local airport.

A nice exhibit with lots of models. Everything seems to tie back to Milwaukee in the exhibit. Will stop in again when I leave Milwaukee.

Very good exhibit on the early history of how the airplane replaced the battleship as the core of the U.S. Navy's battle plans.

Gen Mitchell International Airport Milwaukee MKE I hate airports; let's face it, what is fun about standing in line to check-in? Standing in line to pass TSA muster - standing in line to buy an overpriced beverage because TSA made you throw yours away? Some Airports go out of their way to lessen this "travel shock." The General Mitchell International... More

By all means, if u r a student of history, this is the place to visit & learn. Outstanding exhibits, & the star of the show, Billy Mitchell, the greatest pilot that ever lived.

Free! small museum upstairs in the airport. Not so "cutting-edge" or interactive: models, uniforms, letters and other artifacts. Covers the history of air traffic, flight, local pilots and the airport. Old school, but the price is right. We often go with my 5-year old to look at the models, which he enjoys. Worth a look.

Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport has a history going back to the 1920s, located on the upper level of the airport terminal, before security, this free museum tells the story of aviation history in Milwaukee. Displays include many models, including an incredibly detailed "Barbie" sized jet cockpit that is simply amazing. Worth a few minutes of your time to check out

My youngest is enthusiastic about air travel lately. This is the perfect free museum to take them to. It has a lot of local history about the airport and the man for whom it is named. Lots of models to look at. Then a good idea is to eat at a table by the window in the brewery and watch... More
