Great complex of late-19th century buildings housing retired soldiers. Now vacant but set on spectacular site above Miller Park. Not easy to find. Need to drive behind VA hospital. Nice grounds to walk around. Plenty of parking.

While the buildings are not open to the public, feel free to take a breathtaking walk around the VA grounds. The VA is planning a 150th Anniversary this year (1867 - 2015) on the grounds 6-3-17.

If you are in this area and interested in architecture, you can drive through this area and look at buildings. Some are surrounded by fencing and in need of restoration. All buildings are owned by the government.
