I envisioned biking next to the Mississippi River. Since we started just north of Onalaska, there were no river views. There were however, lots of marshes, and bridges over smaller creeks and rivers. We saw deer, turtles, eagles, egrets and a large brown snake which...More

Biked the trail from Onalaska toward Trempeleau just this week. This is an easy ride but maintenance over the last couple of years has fall off. It now is generally a 2 lane cow path. There is no longer pea gravel on most of the...More

Path was in great condition. Generally well marked although mile markers could have been a bit more frequent.

My wife and I had an amazing weekend biking along this trail. The trip from Trempealeau to Onalaska is gorgeous. The trail crosses several wooden bridges and sections of forest. The entire trail is flat, so biking is easy for novice bikers like me.

What hotel is closest to the Marshland entrance? I'm also getting a mixed reading of the mileage from Trempealeau to Marshland. Do you have more of an exact mileage count?

It is pretty sparse for Hotels in that area, you would probably have to go across the river into Winona Minnesota, or into the town of Trempealeau itself. From Downtown Trempealeau to the northern terminus at Hwy 35 looks... More
