A pleasant place to recharge the spirit.

I live in IL and was returning home from the Twin Cities heading to Red Wing, going through Winona MN. My GPS routed me down MN 10/61 which is known as the Great River Road. I recommend traveling on this route always! I'm following the navigator in the car and it routes me across The Mississippi into Preston WI and... More

We stopped in while traveling the Great River Road over the weekend. It is a lovely spot to stop and stretch your legs while enjoying the views!

Great views of the water. Picked up a walking tour book, a little out of date but was fun. The center closes at 5 so get there early.

I live near Freedom Park and go here ALOT. Sometimes I bring my lunch, a good book, some work, whatever and just spend time here. It is gorgeous, as it overlooks the confluence where the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers come together. We are blessed to have this amazing facility and park. Don't pass through Prescott, WI without stopping here.... More

On top of a river bluff the facility offers a good look at the river and a nice green space with outdoor amphitheater plus playground for the young people to play on. Good for a quick picnic or stretch. Visitor center has regular hours and offers knowledge of the area.

Unfortunately this visitor center was closed on Mondays which was the day we were there. Seems strange since the Great River Road is promoted as a great fall scenic drive that it's visitor center would be closed on a Monday. I'm sure it's an informative center just make sure it's going to be open. None the less, there are some... More

Nice place to stop along the road. Clean bathrooms, nice view of the river, and small playground. There wasn't a lot to see in the visitor center but we enjoyed the exhibits about some of the river's history.

This park offers some nice views of the river, although nothing spectacular. This is not a "must see" park. The visitor center has minimal exhibits. One can walk around the grounds and enjoy the beautiful views of the river below. Other than having a picnic, there is nothing much else to do. One disappointing thing was that there was no... More

Two different colors of rivers, Mississppi and St. Croix, are seen with beautiful nature trees. It's seen at height. Good to see the pretty rail bridge and beautiful rivers' meeting.

Stopped in winter, -10 outside so couldn't explore too much. Nice, educational place. The lumberjack stories were interesting.
