Never knew their pizza was so good!

We recently went to the Pioneer Keg for pizza and drinks one Sunday evening and can't believe we overlooked this place for so long! The pizza was excellent and the staff couldn't have been any nicer! Don't forget to try their Widmer's Cheese Curds!

Pricing issue.

Ordered take-out using their on-line menu. Upon pick-up my $13 order came in at over $18. They raised their prices but didn’t change their website. Left a message on their site and got ZERO response.

Cheese curds, totally amazing! Probably a given but really, really good. The pizza tasted the way pizza tastes in Italy, fresh cheese, great crust. Bloody Mary’s were yummy. Friendly service, nothing was a problem. Can’t wait to come back here.

The best lunch on the way home from the northwoods in the last 20 years.
Aug. 2017 • Family
My wife and I and 2 of my adult sons stopped for gas on the way home from St.Germain on a Saturday around noon. We had the House patty melt, a Rubin, and the fried pork chop sandwich. Oh, and we started with their award winning cheese curds. The cheese curds were outstanding. The cheese was made a block away at the Widmer Cheese cellar and used for the curds and on the patty melts. The pork chop was excellent, and what I hear so was everything else. I fully recommend this out of the way tavern as a place for lunch.

good fish fry

good fish fry, usually longer wait time than I would like. Staff (very few of) and bartender are not overly friendly.

Get the cheese curds!
May 2016 • Couples
We stopped here on a day trip and had the brick cheese curds and a beer for a light dinner.
Cheese curds were great! Light and fluffy; which is unusual. It's definitely worth stopping!

Try the Cheese Curds!!!
Apr. 2016 • Couples
If you get anything from here get the Cheese Curds. It's fried cheese and it's amazing! The cheese comes from Widmer's, a local cheese company. We heard their burgers and pizza were good so we ordered a supreme pizza. It's 5 pounds! It was so good and we found out that all the ingredients are sourced locally. A few warnings which should not deter you from visiting this establishment: it isn't a big place and they have limited seating but they can seat about 6 people comfortably without moving tables around; they have an extremely small staff so you have to be patient (we were there on a Friday evening and in total were there for a little over an hour); their hours are limited during the week so check their hours before you go. A must go to if you're ever in the area!!

Small town cozy atmosphere.
Feb. 2016 • Couples
Ate at the Pioneer Keg before going to a comedy show, which was also in Theresa. The owner Jim took our order and shortly thereafter, we were sitting down to eat. Love the small town atmosphere as I grew up here. It was nice talking to the owner about people that we knew in common. Great place to eat and the food was also good. We will definitely come back again.

Best cheese curds around...Thanks Widmer's
Nov. 2014 • Friends
We stopped in on a whim one dreary afternoon. We were a little hungry and thirsty for a beer. We ended up having their freshly deep fried Widmer's brick cheese curds along with a Capital Ale and were in heaven. I know we eat a lot of cheese and drink a lot of beer in Wisconsin, but this was pretty awesome.
