This used to be a fishing village. it's a small museum with artifacts about commercial fishing with is no longer a way of life in the area. Info about ship wrecks is displayed too.

Small local collection of maritime history. Interesting items with volunteers happy to share their knowledge. We met a man who was a fisherman from the area. Pretty view of the water and an interesting stop.

Not only is the building filled to the brim with "old stuff", the building itself is a wonder! The log beams - a couple were 30 feet long...no kidding! The volunteer was a wealth of local knowledge, and seemed to love talking about it. And...More

The gentleman at the museum spent quite a bit of time telling us all about the fishing boats and how the fisherman worked on them. Lots to see here and definitely to ask questions! They also have a food trailer with snacks and ice cream.

We stopped here for a few minutes but didn't think there was much to see. The artifacts were underwhelming. Not super exciting.

This is a museum depicting Washington Island's maritime past. There are numerous exhibits and a friendly staff to help explain them. There is even a very old unrestored Kahlenberg two cycle diesel located outdoors.

We went here to see different things on the Island. The buildings were all closed, and we could only really look at the boats and other objects outside. The fisherman's cottage had a sign that said open, but none of the doors were open. We...More
