This is a great place to visit. I would encourage you to visit the Horicon Marsh nearby, as well as all that Wisconsin has to offer! Great cheese!

Worth a stop
May 2019 • Friends
Marsh Haven is not as new or glitzy as the other visitor centers at Horicon Marsh, but sometimes smaller is better. This center is operated by a non-profit organization dedicated to nature education. There's a museum ($3) with displays about the history and wildlife in the Horicon Marsh region. Short trails loop through wooded areas and open fields. The volunteer staff are very knowledgeable about birds and wildlife, and the site welcomes youth groups for hands-on education. A day visit to Horicon Marsh can feel overwhelming with broad views of the marsh and busy, formal visitor centers but the cozy comfort of Marsh Haven brings it together in a more meaningful fashion. It's worth a stop.

Don't forget this little gem if visiting Horicon Marsh
Apr. 2019 • Solo
Most people, while visiting Horicon Marsh, go for National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, or Wisconsin Ice Age Explorium. Few people are aware of this non-profit Nature Center. It's at the northern portion of Horicon. It has nice nature and local history museum typical of such centers, network of trails and a little book/souvenir store. One of the main features here also are Purple Martin bird houses, maintained in cooperation with Wisconsin Purple Martin Association. Purple Martin is a bird of special concern in Wisconsin. Marsh Haven also holds different events - check out their website for information.

Candle light walk
Feb. 2016 • Family
We had an evening free and ventured out to Marsh Haven for their candle light walk. It was fantastic. The paths were lighted with candles and you move at your own speed. We heard a small presentation on animals that might be viewed while there and had a little time at the provided bon fire. Met some great folks and ate some yummy baked goods that were for purchase in the main building. Very nice evening and we will attend again.

We are glad you had a great time at the candlelight hike, but cannot take credit for it as that event is held at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitors Center on Highway 28. We are the center on Highway 49, just outside of Waupun. Stop out and see us sometime!

This is a really cool little semi private, semi charitable nature museum for the Horicon Marsh

We were going to tour the marsh on a sunday. the federal site was closed and, as we wandered up the east side of the marsh, we stumbled on this little gem. It isn't a big time visitor center but what it packs into it's small space is truly truly wonderful. There were lots of people here (thus surprised that it hasn't been reviewed before on TA). a few snacks and just a great informal walkaround for geology and wildlife on the inside. we didn't take any of the small trails but should have. Nice people. definitely couple this in with the government sponsored sites.
