Interesting!

Explains history of the area and entrepreneurship of a very smart man! Might be easy to miss, located on the main down town strip.

No children in tow so the water and adventure parks didn't call to us. Instead we spent time in the Dells and then came across this studio museum. Only a donation is requested to enter. On entering I first thought it was quite tiny and wouldn't take long. But it meanders through two buildings connected as one and presents the history,... More

This is a self-guided tour (but there are museum helpers around who have all the answers to your questions) and is definitely a must see in the Dells if you like history, photography, and learning. It's so interesting to see how the Dells used to look. They did a great job at curating and maintaining this gem.

I'm a big photography buff so this really interested me. I loved learning more about HH Bennett, and how he helped develop the instant-shutter camera, his cool developing room that rotated on wheels, and how his photography drew tourists to the area and actually helped develop tourism to Wisconsin Dells!

I enjoyed looking at all of the pictures from the past. It was great to see how things have changed over the years. I like that you could buy pictures from the past.

I have been to the seller numerous times and had not noticed this spot prior to this visit. That won't happen again! They have great local and historical artwork and items along with a nice little museum that has a preserved section of the building. My 2.5 year old niece loved the exhibit which only asks for a small donation... More

I have been to the Dells several times before and I can't ever recall seeing this place. Boy am I glad I stumbled upon it this time. This is an awesome museum that is loaded with history and information about how Wisconsin Dells became a vacation destination. Much larger than it looks and due to an infusion of grant funds... This summer the H.H. Bennett Studio was free to visit, and after having gone on the Dells Upper Boat tour I felt I absolutely had to stop in. The studio is split between a museum, and the actual original studio that H.H. Bennett himself used. The information and pictures show the Wisconsin Dells as they once were, and tell the... More

Finally I got an answer to why this random small town became a tourist trap, and it was largely because of Mr. Bennett's photography and promotion. It was quite an interesting exhibit and free this season.
