Fantastic museum free to visit. Highly recommend.
Fantastic museum showing many different types of guns to that have been “dug up” from prior to civil war up to WW2. All well presented by era and labeled in a small but effective space. The Owner is very nice and welcoming, also extremely knowledgeable. You can easily spend several hours there. I highly recommended visiting if you have the opportunity.
Thanks for the great review! Reviews like this are the reason that the museum can continue running on a donation basis, hopefully far into the future! Thanks! H.

    Interesting artifacts
Very interesting and cool stuff. The owner is very knowledgeable and friendly. We had a nice time looking at all the artifacts and chatting with Hans the owner. Spent about and hour viewing and chatting. Their is no admittance fee, but donations are appreciated.
Thanks for the nice review! I am glad you enjoyed yourselves and liked the exhibits. Please stop in again if you're ever in our area again! Hans.

Super neat place and funny stories!
This place is really cool; the displays are awesome! He pointed out some specific pieces for us to look at while we walked around. He also had cool and funny stories about things he’s found, which was honestly the best part of the place! He’s got some really cool pieces like the MG34, a few STG-44s, and some other belt-fed machineguns including a dug up Browning 50cal!
Thanks for coming in and taking the time to leave a great review! I am glad you enjoyed seeing all the relics that are on display here! We have something for everyone! Stop in again someday and see what else turns up! H.

    Unique fascinating
The Curator is highly knowledgeable and very much involved with your experience. He had a story for every piece. If you tell him where you are from, He will show you a piece from your area along with a really cool story. I am glad I decided to walk in. It was a last-minute decision and was one of the top highlights of the trip. The place is really small, so it doesn't take very long to get through.
Thanks for your nice review! I am very pleased that you enjoyed the visit and also that it could be a highlight on your vacation! Please stop in again if you're around our area ! H.

Went for the name, stayed because it is really interesting!
Ok, so we went to this museum simply because of the name. Who can resist something called the "Dug Up Gun Museum?" The place turned out to be much more interesting than expected and the owner was very informative about the pieces in his collection and their history. Gift shop was also unusual and had some really great stuff completely unrelated to guns. If you visit, remember to give the place a donation as they don't charge admission. A real gem in Cody.

Fantastic collection of relic fire arms and other relics. Owner extremely knowledgeable and provided so much more detail with some great stories of some pieces histories and owners. Unusual items we’d not seen nor known about previously until our visit. Amazing museum and certainly one worth a visit while visiting Cody.

If your going to the annual Winchester show this summer, make sure you include time to see the Cody Dug Up Museum. It is a delight to see all the guns with obviously
varied histories. You won't be sorry you took the time to see a very unique museum.

We stopped here as we were wandering around Cody. The owners are very passionate about their collection and take great pride in it. It was quite interesting to us to see how firearms have changed through time and they also have many other items on display.

This is the coolest place on earth for a gun guy who loves history. There were so many artifacts that we came 2 days in a row. Hans & Eva were welcoming and took extra time to talk to us about different guns and how they came to be in the collection. The museum covers dug up firearms (and accessories) from the Revolution all the way up through the mid 20th century. There’s a big Civil War & Old West section, including guns that have a link to Custer and some that are local to old west Cody. There’s a respectable collection of WW2 relics too. Hans has some antique firearms and accessories for sale too; I bought a couple of old revolver conversion cylinders as a keepsake.

We appreciate you Hans & Eva; thanks for a big highlight of our trip!

The name caught our attention, and we were not disappointed! The collection is exactly as advertised, and it was very interesting to see the varying ways that guns have been preserved, or not, over time. The collection is well organized and labeled, and there is a lot to see in a small space. The owner/collector is very knowledgeable and friendly and clearly committed to sharing his collecting passion with others. You will spend an hour and see some really unusual things. AND he has some really unusual items for sale; I bought an antique deck of cards and an old, old padlock and key. Check it out!

We were amazed at the gun collection here! It is so well organized and the stories written and placed near the guns and told by the owner peaked my interest in gun history. Like Hans said, “Every gun has a story to tell. We just don’t know all of the stories.” Hans has done lots of research and it shows. This was truly more interesting than I expected. Thank you!

Incredible collection of history via firearms. Owner/curator engages with visitors to share his knowledge. The guns tell stories, sometimes obvious and sometimes imagined. Thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

We visited the Dug Up Gun Museum today. Not only did the displays have hundreds of guns, but great descriptions of their unique backgrounds! The curator was very knowledgeable in the history of the pieces, and world history as well! This is Cody’s best kept secret! I wish I planned for more time here. We enjoyed our visit and wish the curator the best with adding to his collection as well as looking forward to another visit. Very enjoyable experience!
