I visited the museum this past summer and was impressed with the exhibits. Anyone would find something of interest. It represents our Western heritage. I recommend for anyone traveling through Gillette, WY
I thought the museum would have a major focus on mining, but it has so much more about life in the area. Some fascinating information about the local coal mines - take a look at the Black Thunder video. I particularly liked the old “shop”...More

Thank you so much for visiting and for your kind review. We love having diverse exhibits and stories for everyone to learn and enjoy. Please come again soon as we keep updating exhibits each and every year.
The Rockpile Museum is a wonderful little place. It’s a storehouse of knowledge and information for all ages. There is no admission fees and you can spend up to 2-3 hours here. The staff is super friendly and they offer assistance with everything.

Nice, small town museum depicting life in rural Wyoming. Great films on mining & energy production. There are "sheep wagons" that look like rustic RVs, you can enter one of them & take pictures. Nice wagons & an old style voting booth. Handicap accessible. Free...More

We visited the Rockpile Museum while attending a rally at CamPlex. I thought one of the highlights was a display dedicated to the USO during WWII. There were photos of several of the stars who entertained the troops and a couple of old videos of...More
