We stopped at the Wild Horse Corrals on the edge of Rock Springs before traveling the Wild Horse Scenic Loop. It was closed but we could see a lot of the horses. Driving the Scenic Loop, we saw a lot of horses, antelope and even...More

This is a great drive and takes about 60-90 minutes. We saw about a dozen wild horses and a small group of elk. Dirt road and a little tricky...should have an SUV but could be done in a good car...no low sports cars.

No need for off-road vehicle or braving muddy roads, just go by the wild horse corral and overlook. Saw several hundred horses yesterday. Located two blocks off US 191, just north of the I-80 exit, behind the Cat Dealer

I like to get off the highway and see something special. This might be that, at times, but not today. I did see two horses, and Pilot Butte was very pretty but far in the distance. Mostly it was a long, slow drive on a...More

Despite the reviews warning travelers about the road on the Pilot Butte Wild Horse scenic loop, we decided to give it a try. What we found was that if you enter the loop in Green River, there isn't a problem. We were in our Honda...More

This expansive open range area is a fitting backdrop for the wild horses in this region. We approached from the Green River side at mid day, mid Sept. (in the 80’s with an expected mild breeze). I was a little concerned given other reviews about...More

Very beautiful drive, but you will want a truck as the roads are torn up quite a bit. Great place for a sunset!

Worth our time & the rough (but passable in our car) road, and we did see 7 horses, some deer & pronghorn, a grouse & a rabbit...but I wouldn't encourage 'casual tourists' to try it...

If you have a vehicle that can go a little off road, it will really enhance your visit. You can get fairly close to some of the family groups, but don't crowd them, please. Beautiful creatures of varying heritage, but all wild now.

We drove on the loop for a good couple of hours in the middle of the day and saw about 6 wild horses from a far, and 2 up close. The view of the rocks from the hills were gorgeous.

In mild winters the horses might be near the loop. If we get a lot of snow the road can be impassible for even 4 wheel drives. It is not maintained in the winter. Should be good until mid December. January can be iffy.
