Well maintained park with plenty of open areas and shady as well. Even the public wash rooms were fairly clean which is unusual for parks on Hawaii.

This little island is all set up for picnics and has several tiny little beaches which are safe for even the youngest swimmer
Across from the ocean-side Japanese garden. Walk across the bridge to this little island. Nice views and lots of easy parking. Good short stop while in Hilo.
