Captain Shane and Jacob mean business!!! They take the boat 10-20 feet away from where the lava hits the water. Simply amazing to smell the hot vapors (no sulphur oxide), see the newly formed rocks fizzing as they cool in the water and float as they contain gases released by the cooling. They will let you feel the hot ocean... More

Drive time from our resort was stated as 2.5 hours in the booking confirmation. Traffic on the recommended route caused hotel concierge to tell us we needed at least 3.25 hours - Google maps gave yet another story. We called lava tours immediately to let them know. They wanted another $100 per person to change the reservation. We asked if... More

This is an amazing way to see lava flowing into the ocean making the Big Island even bigger. We took the sun rise tour and saw the sun come up in the east and the huge super moon to the west. We made several passes so that everyone had a good view of the lava just like in the picture.... More

What a thrill! Thank you "Lava Ocean Tour" for treating me to an incredible adventure! Not only was I humbled by the power Madame Pele, but equally by the power of the ocean. There is such a magnificent world out there for all of us to explore... thank you again for providing an opportunity to see a little more of... More

This trip is so amazing, almost surreal. You get so close to the lava flow you feel the heat and smell the sulphur. I hope the next time we visit the Big Island the lava is still flowing because I want to do it again and again.

Read all the other reviews - this is terrific! But PAY ATTENTION to the warnings on the website and when you buy over the phone -- you MUST be able to climb a 10 ft. ladder, you WILL get wet, someone on the boat WILL get sick (two that I saw on our trip), you may break your nose or... More

This was well worth every penny including the airfare to get here to see this attraction, I'm not an emotional person but when I got on this boat took the ride to the lava spewing into the ocean, it brought tears to my eyes, to see Mother Nature up close and personal, I was absolutely speechless. If I ever return... More

What Captain Sean showed us on his boattrip was unforgettable !! Although he gave us a decent briefing about what could happen on a rough boattrip, about what we needed to do in case of emergencies, and a detailed description of what we going to be able to see...this experience exceeds everything we could have expected. Being amateur photographers we... More

We took the sunset tour. I booked through telephone which was very easy. The meeting point was an hour drive from Volcano where we stayed. The boat left on time. The captain was very professional. The ride was comfortable even though we were warned that it could be rough. It took 40 minutes to reach the lava site. The boat... More

This was a mind blowing experience. My fiance and I took this boat tour at 5pm and it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. The boat got so close to the volcano and the flowing lava you could feel the heat on your face. The captains were really great and made the experience fun! Highly recommend these... More
