We recently did the sunset tour with Shayne & Sky of Lava Ocean Tours. Without a doubt it is the most amazing tour we did during our 4 week holiday, visiting 5 islands. The staff were very professional, knowedgeable, safety conscious & most of all so much fun. Seeing the lava flowing into the ocean like that was surreal &... More

A must do if you are traveling to the Big Island. We did the sunrise tour, well worth the money and the 2 a.m. drive from Kona to the boat launch. Seeing it glow on the horizon and then as the sun comes up to change how it all appears is just amazing. Captain and crew were great. Our boat... More

Wonderful trip out to see the lava flow. The captain (Shane) and crew (Sky) were straightforward about potentially getting wet, and riding on the open seas. When I read critical reviews I think those clients were just not honest with the staff when they were told to please opt out if this was not the description of the trip they... More

We scheduled this trip the day before we went, having heard about it from other tourists. Very exciting, WET trip. I couldn't believe how close we were able to get to the lava; we have fabulous photos and video as a result. Captain and crew were friendly and enthusiastic and really enhanced our experience. I would recommend this trip to... More

We took this trip at sunset to see the Kilauea lava flowing out of a tube. I've never seen anything like it, and likely never will again. We were right next to the lava, could feel it's heat, the water temperature was about 120 degrees. As dusk settled in, it glowed even more. I'm so glad I did this. Lava... More

The Captain and the crew did a great crew were great. They got us as close to the lava as was safe. The ride to and from was rough but if you listen to them you arrive back to land safe and sound. I have already been telling people to use them. Best way to see LAVA. You get as... More

We did the sunrise tour. This boat tour was as advertised in every way. exciting, wet, somewhat rough, but well worth doing! Shane and crew were very professional, helpful and friendly. The view of the lava dropping into the ocean and the steam and gas is magical. We were close and those on both sides had ample opportunity to see a... More

We were very impressed with Captain Shane, who was honest and straightforward about what to do, what to expect, and what we'd see on the tour. Most tour companies would have just shoved us into the boat after a two-minute pre-recorded speech about safety, but not these guys. Outstanding!

Not knowing what to expect I was impressed by this top notch professional company. Where many of the companies smaller wooden boats stayed a distance from the lava flow our metal, larger boat with 4 gigantic rear boat motors got really close. Great for photographers and anyone that wants to feel the heat and thrill of this amazing sight! Probably... More
