I heard people say that it's not worth it but it defo is. The way the water falls down the gorge like rock is a beautiful sight. 1 dollar entry for non residents. Also 5 dollars to park. I heard that people decide to park...More

Of course all waterfalls are beautiful. This was an easy walk to get to. I suggest to walk the entire loop, starting at the right, as they suggest. The only problems there were a lot of people at mid-day. One huge obnoxious group that noisy....More

Great view of a tremendous waterfall just 11 miles north of Hilo. Worth the short drive from the city.

This is right on the outskirts of Hilo. Short walk from the parking lot and a beautiful view of a very good waterfall. There has been lots of rain there recently, so a good water flow.

Akaka Falls really delivers. It is a large, robust flow of water in the middle of a beautifully manicured little trail. And (disconcerting for this hiker the first time around) anyone an just drive up to it, walk across a parking lot, and snap a...More

The parking, like many other spots on the Big Island, might be the biggest headache in trying to visit Akaka Falls. Spots are limited, the space is very busy, and huge tour buses take up a lot of ground. But if you're patient and find...More

You can park in the parking lot (if spots available) for $5 or park on the side of the road for free. It is $1 per person to visit - pay before going down the stairs to see the falls. We were there while there...More
