We went here because it was raining, and needed an outing… And it was pretty good. I had expected there to be hiking, but the walk was maybe 20 to 25 minutes. (With stairs, so not accessible for some) there is a HUGE tree along the path that my son loved. There are two waterfalls to see you. Parking is... More

The picture tells it all. Clean white water fall plummeting into a lush valley. The walk around the parks takes about 1/2 hour to 3/4 hr. I would definitely recommend this. It was not busy when we were there but the walk would be unpleasant with several tours buses walking through. The falls aren't as spectacular as those in the... More

The falls are gorgeous, especially after a rain, which is often. Easy access from highway, short, safe walking trail. Two hrs drive from Kona, so you may want to combine with other attractions in the area.

Saw this waterfall - again - and it was better the second time around. They do have a nominal charge now - we were in a tour so don't really know what the charge is. It only takes about 30 mins to walk-thru and view this magnificent waterfall but it is worth it!!

One of the Big Island's coolest destinations. Paved walkway will treat you to vast floral and fauna only to see a wonderful waterfall. Only. It's worth the trip, just a mile off the Hwy.

Nice and easy walk around the park and a breathtaking view of the waterfall down the bottom. We went on a rainy day which made the views even better as there was far more water surging down the waterfall

What an accessible location, really anyone can enjoy this spot. The parking lot is mere feet from the overlook, and there is a paved trail, complete with handrail that runs through this park. The loop is short, but packed with sights...there are so many beautiful plants here, it's a bit overwhelming actually. The Akaka Falls are impressive in their own... More

What an impressive waterfall! I'm so glad we stopped and did the 30 minute loop trail through the lush tropical forest. Beautiful. The trail is paved with sturdy handrails - very safe.

A short drive off the main highway takes you to a truly stunning place Akaka Falls State Park. The directions were very clear and the road was pretty accessible. There was a person in the lot collecting a 5 dollar fee for the upkeep of the park. The falls are visible from the lot but a short walk requiring stair... More

If you can't walk down to see the entire fall you are still able to view a stunning site at the lookout.
