Great for snorkeling!

This is a town beach, right in Hilo - but put on a snorkel, and you can see amazing fish and corals! I was gobsmacked.

The park is green and quite pretty, with lots of trees and some small ponds. There is also a small black sand beach here but it looked a little too rough to swim the day we stopped here. The views from here of the coastline are beautiful. Be sure to feel the sand here as its surprisingly smooth and has... More

A great place to stop and enjoy the view. Small black sand beach with clear waters for snorkeling. If you're lucky, you also see a few green sea turtles.

This is our favorite beach in all of Hawaii. It never seems to have a lot of people there. The waves pound against the large lava formations and it is a beautiful sight. They have the little pond holes within the area and it is a great place to enjoy flowers, lush area where you can have a picnic if... More

The park looks like a golf course and you can set up on the sand or on the grass. The snorkeling is excellent and although there is a wave break, the current is a bit strong at times. I did not see any turtles but there was plenty of fish and coral. It was not overly crowded.

If you are lucky, the sea turtles will come into the calmer water here. It also has a small area of the black sand. The whole area is pretty and peaceful. It was nice to walk around here.

We visited the beach but did not go into the water, There were plenty of people in the park and they were snorkeling from the beach. Next to the park, we saw several turtles laying on the beach. At least two tour groups cycled through while we were there.

Great beach to spend the day on the water, snorkeling or just taking in the ocean view. The area is not too crowded with people and offers restrooms, lifeguards and outdoor showers. Take the time to walk out onto the rocks and find yourself a nice spot to relax and watch the fish and turtles. Wear decent shoes or water... More

This is a small beach. There are picnic tables, restrooms & outdoor showers (if you want to rinse off after getting in the ocean) beautiful black sand. Beyond the lifeguard stand you'll find rock formations. We saw sea turtles and lots of beautiful fish.
