Not really allot of shopping but a couple of decent places to check out, I wish there was more, it rained so hard while we were here but that didn't damper our shopping experience, when your in Waimea you need to check everything out.

From Mauna Lani, Waikaloa and Puako you are 10 miles closer to the big Food Land and Longs Drug stores at Waimea than to shopping in Kailua. Also, there are two Farmers' Markets in Waimea each Saturday morning. One in the center of town, the...More

Stopped here on a Sunday and half the shops and restaurants were closed. We bought some groceries and prepared food from the KTA Supermarket in the Shopping Center across the street. The lady cooks and serves the food which has a different theme every day...More

We stopped off in Waimea en route up the Kohala coast and it really did have the feel of a old-fashioned American town. The shops we went into were all incredibly friendly but with no compulsion to buy if you didn't want to. The lovely...More

Waimea is not your typical Hawaiian town. Parker ranch is in the area so you get a cowboy feel and the Parker ranch history is real interesting. Waimea is a small, country town. We found an L & L Barbecue there and the food was...More

Who would have ever thought a beautiful Western town on the Big Island of Hawaii?! It was such a nice stop to walk about the shops, talk to the friendly people and view Mauna Kea with it's snow cap. Simply amazing!!!

Small town on the north end of island. Stores line each side of the road for a city block. Cute stores, friendly people.

Nice drive up the mountain from Waikoloa. The weather was approximately 20 degrees cooler and there was a nice mist. Small town charm. We ate at Island Burger near the Parker Ranch store.

Its less than an hour's drive to Waimea. For tourists Waimea is a nice atypical Hawaiian experience. It's cool, has a cowboy ranch history and mentality, and lots of quaintness, including, arguably, the best restaurant in Hawaii-Merriman's.
