Come visit the Anna Ranch Heritage Center which offers insight to the rich history of ranching and the paniolo on the Big Island. The lush green hills of Waimea offer a beautiful back drop to the unique story of Anna Leialoha Lindsey Perry-Fiske who was known as the “First Lady of Ranching“ in Hawaii. As one of Hawaii’s finest Pa’u riders, an award winning jockey and one who could throw amazing social events to raise funds for the community, Anna’s story will leave you amazed and inspired. Born in 1900 and living to the age of 95, Anna lived a long exciting life. Prior to her death she placed her ranch in a trust so that the history of ranching in Hawaii would be shared with future generations.Listed on both the National and State registers of historic places, the ranch is a one of a kind attraction. Visitors may tour the spectacular and expansive gardens as well as the fourteen room historic ranch house with a treasure trove of Hawaiian koa furnishings, artifacts and fine millinery.

Fun visit, especially if you've read the book

Our family took the tour of Anna's ranch & it was fun to see in person all the things I had read about in her book. However, not everyone in our party had read the book & they... read more

We decided to stop here after reading many positive reviews, but found the ranch inexplicably closed. There were several cars in the parking lot, but the only life forms moving around spoke cow. We tried calling, but just got a recorded message that they would be closed January 26th. That was LAST WEEK! Looks like a very interesting place, but... More

Our family took the tour of Anna's ranch & it was fun to see in person all the things I had read about in her book. However, not everyone in our party had read the book & they still enjoyed seeing a picture of ranch life in Hawaii in the 1930's - 1950's.

There is a lot of history here, and hidden waterfalls for a truly atmospheric Hawaiian hike. Picnic tables. Beautiful gardens, a stream. Not what you would think just driving by.

I was here for a conference. Right out side the windows were steep hills, remnants of cinder cones. Not to forget the babbling brook. Sheep grazing in the hills were a nice touch!

If you love history you will enjoy this tour! Our guide was knowledgeable and gave an interesting tour of the history of Anna's ranch. She was able to answer every question, told fascinating stories and spent over an hour with us. This tour was recommended in my travel guide, and we knew nothing about Anna or this amazingly beautiful house... More

Dropped in after seeing the sign for Anna ranch...on a misty late Waimea afternoon. Even though a private event was being prepped for, we still snuck in and looked around the grounds and gardens. Wonderful look at what an active ranch was like in the old days..and the foresight for it to be preserved for future generations. If you head... More

This may be a historic landmark, but there's no real attraction for the average tourist, and the guided tours are very infrequent. Only reason to stop is to walk around back for view of lush mountains.

The Anna Ranch gives visitors a look back into Hawaii's past. As the first woman in Hawaii to own and run a large ranch, Anna had to prove herself in a man's world and she did just that. Tours allow visitors access to every room in the house as well as all the outbuildings. Tour guides happily explain everything including... More

My husband and I visited the ranch on a day driving tour on the big island. We took the 10am tour and found our guide to be delightful. She was very informative and gave us quite the history of the big island ranches. You do need to book ahead and the cost is $10...well worth it!

We attended a private party there. It is very nice and the informational signs around the property were very interesting. Lovely property.
