The tour itself is free and self guided. When we were there, none of the screens that explain the process were working. You basically walk outside of a factory and look into windows where people are working with no explanation as to what is happening. The shop was great - because there were free samples, but in terms of pricing... More

I wasn't really a big fan of macadamia nuts before coming here, but I had a lovely time. The self guided tour took me no time at all as nothing seemed to be really happening in the factory, and some of the screens that were meant to provide extra information didn't even work. That was a little disappointing, as I... More

The ownership of this mac nut company used to be Hawai`an but I think that Hershey owns it now . Not much of I interest except gift shop and frankly Walmart, just a mile further into Hilo, has better prices. A better candy store with full view of real candy making activity is Big Island Candy . Turn the opposite... More

One of the stops we made while on the Big Island of Hawaii was the Mauna Loa macadamia nut factory. As you approach the visitor center, you are already driving through acres of macadamia nut trees. There is a processing facility which has viewing areas set up through windows. There are some steps to climb, but it is probably the... More

We really enjoyed the short drive to the factory as you get to see a very large macadamia farm with trees for wind breaks, etc. Fun to see the macadamia trees as well. The self guided tour took about 30 seconds and nothing in the factory was operating so we really didn't see anything. There is a nice scenic location... More

Did I say yum? As in homemade ice cream, chocolate covered macadamia nuts, Kona coffee macadamia nuts, garlic and onion macadamia nuts. yes, they really sell that last flavor. It was interesting to learn about the trees and watch the workers in the factory. If you are a foodie, this is a must see.

Self guided tour (look through the glass and see the processing and packaging). Read the info. Requires climbing several sets of stairs (not ADA friendly to my knowledge). Great gift shop - plenty of free macadamia nut samples/flavors to help you decide. No chocolate covered free samples though. All types of nut products for sale and other merchandise (clothing, hats...?).... More

Having been to the Hamakua macadamia nut factory before coming here, I was a little disappointed. Nice facility but the tour is on a second story catwalk outside the building, looking through not so clean windows. The store is nice but they are kind of cheap on the samples. Beautiful drive in from the highway.

A group of ten of us were exploring the Island and made a stop. While there was not much activity in the actual plant at the time of our visit, there is the opportunity to view the operation on a self-guided walking tour. The gift shop was open and we sought out the area serving ice cream. If you have... More

This has a peek in the making of cookies in a very small little house Also climb several steps to another building which looks down on the production line which goes from the start to finish of packaging macadamia nut products In 3rd building a customer housing where their items are for sale you can sample all the nuts, toasted,...
