Kona coffee is the best and touring Mountain Thunder Plantation was an experience. You see how the coffee is grown, the stages of the beans is explained, tasting, places to sit and enjoy your coffee, a gift shop, not to mention the wonderful views and lush greenery around.

Located high on the mountain above Kona, family owned Mountain Thunder Coffee is a wonderful visit with spectacular views on the way to the plantation. The tour was very interesting and informative and the organic coffee is absolutely amazing!! Don't miss the gift shop where you can purchase coffee to take home! We stocked up!!

Our hotel, the Mauna Lani, had a Mountain Thunder coffee shop which I went to everyday and tremendously enjoyed. So on a rainy day we opted to drive ourselves to the plantation. High in the hills and farther away than we realized, we found the free tour very interesting and included coffee and tea samples. Prices for the beans were... More

Best Kona coffee on the big island! We went on a tour of the organic plantation and the coffee roasting facilities. Really awesome and very informative. The tour guide and staff were great and extremely friendly. Free samples! Of course we bought coffee to take home with us and have joined the coffee club. Highly recommend this place when you're... You will like this tour, the free one that is. Can't comment on the VIP tour. Knowledgeable guide walked us through the roasting process and answered our questions. Free samples were an excellent start and finish. The gift shop was well stocked and we got some unusual holiday presents to take home. Loved the chickens and cats in the yard... More

There are lots of pros and cons, but unfortunately, there are more cons especially considering the steep cost of $135 per person for the VIP tour. The Pros The family business ambiance is great. I loved being greeted by the cats, old dog, chickens, etc. The picnic tables and the large TV playing highlights of the farm were great. The... More

The Mountain Thunder coffee plantation was easy to find and offered tours for free as well as more in-depth tours for a fee. There are free samples for visitors in addition to the company of friendly chickens, cats and a dog. The Mountain Thunder plantation offers an affordable and enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.

This was my first coffee plantation visit and I learned a lot. Our tour guide was great. Beautiful drive to the plantation, and it's close to Kailua-Kona.

Wonderful Coffee and Tea. Yes that's right they have Tea. They have regular tea and tea made from coffee bean skin. The free tour is just the Mill Area.
