Took the morning trip. You can see lava better when it's dark, but after it gets light, you can also see the surrounding sites.

We do our best to inform guess as soon as possible when we know there will be a Weather cancellation most likely just was trying to get a middle of the day tour where the conditions are most Windy and first due to regular cancellation

Yes you can as long as spots are available. We made our reservation in their store in Alii drive 2 days prior, we were lucky to have 4 spots open for us.

We just did the sunset cruise (5:00 PM.) It was awesome and if you're staying on Kona side, you won't have to drag your family out at 3 AM to get there for sunrise.
