There’s a large petroglyph field next to the King’s Shops in Waikoloa Beach Resort. We were lucky enough to join the reopening of the free guided tours, lead by a local volunteer - it was unexpected and great! She gave us a brief history of the area and introduced us to mana, puka and King Kamehameha’s King’s Trail. Great way to learn more about Hawaii. They said tours would continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30. Check out the King’s Shop event page for details. Thanks for a fun tour!

Let’s see; we’re staying in a popular area in Kona, heavy on condos, and some nice houses, and 2 brand name resorts anchoring the area- Marriott & Hilton. There must be some sort of commercial district nearby, correct? Of course, there are the requisite high end stores, art galleries, clothing stores, jewelry, souvenirs, and a few nice restaurants. However I wouldn’t classify Kings Shops as a destination. If you happen to be in the area it’s okay to drop in but otherwise this is the same type of shopping I’ve seen in just about every other vacation spot we’ve been to.

On recent trip to Hawaii, while shopping and eating at Kings' Shops, we stumbled on the best hula show we've seen! It was a local hula group, Halau Malanai, consisting of 7-8 young women and 3 cute little girls. They danced with such expression, enjoying every moment, looking us in the eyes and just beaming with joy. We really felt the Aloha! If you're ever in the Waikoloa area, check with Kings' Shops to see if Halau Malanai is performing! Much better than any resort's Vegas style show!

It's all pretty expensive stuff, but there's a good selection of shops and restaurants. We went mostly to go to the grocery store, which is well-stocked and has a good selection for picking up breakfast or lunch items.

This General Store has lots of vacationers needs. Lots of souvenirs and gifts to take home, snacks and beverages, just a bit of this and that is all present here.
Plus the prices are reasonable ( for Hawaii).
A great little shop to check out if you need a few purchases, and good prices.

There are two shopping areas, Kings and Queens shops. The Kings is more upscale. More dining at Queens.

This was a welcome place to come to as we were staying nearby. Everything on this island is far so we came here nearly every morning for breakfast. It's nothing special, but I can't really complain as it was on our doorstep.

Visiting Kings trail and then visiting there to have lunch will be good opportunity, but unfortunately, due to Covid 19, they do not open most of shops. Please bring your foods and drinks just in case.

Across the street from the Queens Market. It is a little more upscale, with shops like Tiffany, and Na Haku but it is the same that we have in the mainland. A few nice specialty shops but nothing fabulous.
