Some sacred Hawaiian sites are by the road as you make your way. The park is off the beaten path and used by local homeless (lots of tent homes) as well as families. It didn’t feel dangerous but best during the day.

When it's rainy on other parts of the island, Salt Pond is almost always sunny. It is more spacious than Poipu with lots of amenities such as bathrooms, picnic area and lots of parking. There is a bit of snorkelling around the rocks on the...More

Beautiful Salt Pond beach park. Barrier reef protect the big wave so it was safe for kids to swim and snorkeling with life guard on duty. There are restroom and shower. Soooo...nice.

Spent several days in the Poipu Beach area, which was great - but for a PERFECT beach experience, make the drive to Salt Pond Park Beach. Great swimming, snorkeling, picnic tables, showers, lots of parking, etc. Highly recommend.

Ample parking, lifeguard present, numerous covered areas with picnic tables, and restrooms. The beach itself is steep - so "beach walking" is more strenuous than at Hanalei. We saw a fabulous (endangered) Green Sea Turtle on the beach who later worked its way back into...More

The beach was calm and nice. The salt water pond itself is a non event. The beach had more locals than others we have been to.

It's a little out of the way, but it's worth it if you want to take a dip in a calmer beach and sit on the sand.
