We love to walk this trail, but the best time we have was when we rented a two seat bike for the day. Had a super fun day.

This path follows the coastline for several kilometres. We walked along it every morning of our stay. We loved taking some exercise in such attractive surroundings.

We were on the path every day to walk or bike. It is wonderful scenic and a great way to get exercise. One of our favorite activities in Kauai!

This path was only a few blocks from where we were staying. Great place to get in a morning walk and watch the sunrise over the ocean.

We rented from Coconut Coasters. The path going north (~3.5 mi to the end of the path) of CC is more scenic...spectacular than the 1.5 mi section going south of CC.

This path is wide and well maintained. It follows the shoreline with covered rest areas every so often. Locals seem to use them while fishing etc. I didn't see homeless people.

You can rent a bike at a number of places in town or just walk this as far as you can, it is absolutely lovely (minus the few areas of homeless people loitering in the park/beach, they are no bother just sad to see). We...More

How long is the path? Where does it start/end?

Response from Craig m | Reviewed this property |
The path starts at the road by the Kapaa shores resort and winds about 4.5 miles of paved pathway and is a 1000 foot ascent. After the pavement it's a dirt road into the weeds and forest.

Are there places near the Kauai path to rent bicycles for riding on the path or do you need to arrive with a bicycle from another location? If there are rental centers, can you recommend a good place to rent bicyles? How much do they cost? Thank you!

Yes there are a few and always plenty of bikes at each. They all recommend calling ahead and reserving. Have fun.

There is a place in Lihue that rents wheelchairs and motorized scooters. Google such rentals to find location.
