The views at this site are second to none of the island and the birds in flight with their mating rituals are something to behold. The lighthouse is really nice with a lot of history. Free tours and able to go into the lighthouse is worth your while.

This was the first place we went. We were a bit tired from the travel but wanted to see/do something. We were a short distance from Kilauea and decided to see the lighthouse. The views were spectacular, the walk was easy, the wildlife was accommodating and it was the perfect start to the rest of our wonderful vacation.

We stopped here after 4PM and it was closed. From the parking lot we could still see the lighthouse. We returned the next day and paid the entrance fee but were sort of disappointed. It is a short walk to the lighthouse where you can book tours if interested. But in terms of views, we didn't see anything that wasn't... More

If you like birds, this is the place for you. Thousands of Red-Footed Boobies, Shearwaters, Tropic Birds, Albatross, Nene and others abound. We were lucky enough to also see Spinner Dolphins and a Humpback Whale passing by from this point. The views from the plateau surrounding the 1913 Lighthouse are amazing, looking into an old caldera. The water color is... More

Excellent place to see the sights and depends on the time of the year for whales (winter-early spring). Birds galore, Very nice photo opps with the lighthouse and the local vistas. Always well worth the visit. We go every time we are in the area.

On our 3rd consecutive day of rain we drove to the Kilauea Point to view the lighthouse. Delighted to discover hundreds of nesting Red Footed Boobies and Nea Nea Geese strolling along the road. And the lighthouse is lovely, too

Worthwhile stop. We saw humpback whales spouting water and many birds while visiting. Cost of attraction supported operations there and was affordable. The parking lot was easy to get in and out of.

This lighthouse has great views even before you go down to the parking lot where it is located so check out the overlook while you are waiting. Keep in mind there is a wait if the parking lot is full and they will not let you walk down to where it is, and a ranger controls the traffic and parking.... More
