Incredible views and great golf
Feb. 2020
This course has some jaw dropping views of the ocean and mountains particularly on the back nine. Outstanding warmup area, but separate chipping and putting areas to get you ready. The starter, was nice enough to offer my son and I the option to "get off a little early", if we wanted to golf as a two-some... kind and appreciated

The course is straightforward with mostly generous fairways.... ie, it's hard to lose a ball on this course, but making par still makes you feel good. Greens are well maintained with out much undulation, or multiple tiers, so not that tricky. We enjoyed this course so much that we took advantage of the $50 replay rate, same day. Poipu Bay Golf course will not disappoint and will provide plenty of opportunity to blend great golf with outstanding views. Don't miss this.

Beautiful course
Dec. 2019
The first day I played a short round (7 holes), partly to loosen up, partly to test some rental clubs before I played a full round. Good idea. The pro shop staff were very helpful and friendly. The course was in great shape, and made more delightful with all the birds - chickens and geese - almost everywhere. Yes, it was breezy and it rained a little, but the weather did not hinder having a fun and scenic round. This course was recommended by a friend who loved it too. Glad he did.

Heaven ?

This was probably my favorite golf course in the world. The views of the Pacific were almost distracting if they were not so calming.

Fantastic golf course
Oct. 2019
An absolutely beautiful golf course and former PGA tour stop. It's pricey, but you get all the extras - bottled water, range time, personalized name tags made while you golf, clubs loaded, etc. Even higher handicappers should enjoy this course, which is challenging in parts but not crazy-hard. Gorgeous ocean views on many holes, but watch for the hikers coming up from the beach who aren't always paying attention to the golfers. We didn't book a tee time in advance, but were able to just walk on and golfed by ourselves the entire time on a weekday - hardly saw anyone else, and only waited on the last few holes. Had a wonderful time.
The only negative is there is no restaurant. We had hoped to have lunch and drinks after the round, but all they offer is grab-and-go pre-made sandwiches, which we passed on.

Great course. Challenging but fair. It had been a while since I played. Got hooked again. Going back mid November. 6 weeks after first time. Liked it that much. Great service and people.

Great view golf course
Jun. 2019 • Friends
The people were friendly as you arrive and park your car. Someone drove out with a cart to pick up my golf bag. The lady in the golf shop was very nice. The starter explained everything to us. By hole #5, it started to rain hard and a marshall came out with large towels to provide for us.

The course itself was very nice and the greens were running at a good speed. But the course should not have allowed people to drive their carts on the course as I saw many cart tire marks basically ruining a beautiful golf course. By the 17th hole, a marshall came out and said it's cart path only. LOL

The golf course was not as hard as I thought it looked. At times a target golf but it was a fun challenge. Overall a very good golf course to play!

Poipu Bay GC is a stunning golf course! I played this GC many many times and the service is superb, from the pro shop to the starter, the employees are friendly. Then when you get to the course, talking about well manicured course, this is it! Even if you are not playing well, the views on the last few holes are spectacular!

Played here this morning; a beautiful Hawaii day with sun and 10mph breeze. The course is fine, but certainly not up to PGA standards anymore. Greens not very fast, the boxes bumpy, etc. It is a decent layout and has some challenging holes, but not enough "wow" to make up for the nevatives: 1. No marshall(s). I was solo and played in 3 1/2 hours, which is fine, but the course was wide open and I was waiting on the 2-some in front of me for the entire back 9 (no one in front of them). Now, they should have waived me through, but a Marshall would have been nice, to call out their poor etiquette; 2. The best view holes have hikers all along them. This is frustrating because a. why did I pay for these views when everyone else can walk by for free?, and b. the hikers are literally next to the fairway and very close to landing areas. I'm decent (15.1), but not great, so I had to play shots around the hikers or risk an errant drive into them (they mostly were not paying attention to the golfers...which is understandable considering the awesome views of the ocean right next to them). 3. Most of all, I was upset because after my round, as I headed to the range to work out a couple swing thoughts, I was stopped by the cart guy and told to go inside. The ladies in the pro shop (one was the manager), informed me, not very politely, that the range is only included BEFORE the round. I pointed out that this is very odd, for a $200 round that includes cart and range, but was re-told it is before only. When I went outside to get my clubs, I overheard the cart attendants mocking me about the expectation that the range was included all day. I checked the website and there is definitely no mention of this policy--is simply says "All rounds include use of Practice Facility, GPS, golf cart, and bottled water." No mention of a restriction to before play only. Granted, some courses charge for range balls no matter what (muni courses and less nice courses), but many nice courses include them, and I have literally never heard of included range activity being limited to beforehand only. Moreover, the staff were just unfriendly about it.
Their loss, I suppose--I originally planned to play again with my family and even bought the 3-round package for $500...they were going to meet me at the clubhouse for lunch after the round (probably throwing in another $100). Because of this stupid, unpublished, policy, and the staff's lack of professionalism, I refunded that, paid my single round and vowed not to give the Hyatt another penny while I'm here.
It is too bad they dont have this place run a bit better, because it could be a nice round if they cared.

Wonderful Golf Course
Apr. 2019 • Couples
The course is absolutely stunning with ample golf holes on the ocean with great vistas. The staff in the Pro shop were friendly and happy to have you on the course. Our two foursomes played 18 in 4 hours with a noon tee time - that is good for a resort course.
