Lovely, one-hour or so walk along the cliffs of Koloa at Poipu beach. Simple to get to, and the walk is mild to moderate.

The Heritage Trail is a great hike with views of Kauai's southern coast.
Jan. 2020
The Heritage Trail is an excellent way to see the coast from lava cliffs, sea turtles in the coves, waves crashing into the coast, areas sacred to native Hawaiians, and a beautiful beach at the end of the hike. It is an in and out hike so take a water bottle and a camera! We got some phenomenal pictures of Kauai's coast. This trail has side trails for better views of the coast. Take your time and veer off to see the sites!

Easy hike, gorgeous views

SUPER easy spot to get to for amazing sunrise views from Kauai. Literally 3 minutes or less from parking lot to the first of TONS of great spots to sit & enjoy the view. The rest of the trail is still very easy (I did it in flip flops one morning) and no shortage of amazing photo spots. Definitely worth adding this to your hiking list

Dramatic scenery!

We love this hike! Second time for us, and we would do it again. Gorgeous scenery, easy hike, well defined trails. It is hot and sunny so be prepared with water and sunscreen. Highly recommend. No flip flops. Scenery you just won’t see from the car.

Sunrise Heritage Trail for the New Year!
Jan. 2020
Staying at Poipu, the Heritage Trail is a must do early morning. Park in the public parking lot past the Hyatt or near the golf course clubhouse and enjoy spectacular scenery in a 3 mile easy scenic hike along the cliffs.

This is an amazing walk along the shore of the Pacific Ocean. We saw big sea turtles sunning themselves on the rocky shoreline, which was a special treat. This hike is not to be missed.

Very nice walk

We love this walk, not too long but perfect with a coffee. The crashing waves on the rocks, the sound of the ocean, not too crowded makes this trail the perfect walk. We would do it every day as our condo was close. The black rocks really talks to the Hawaiian heritage, it just beautiful.

Not too long walk, but wow.

We were fortunate as our hotel was right beside the trail. It's incredible, not for swimming but to see the crashing waves on the black rocks, just amazing. Listening to the waves while having a coffee, wow, what could be better. Enjoy

Beautiful walk from Shipwreck beach to the light beacon.
Sep. 2019
Turtles can often be seen in the water at the spot shown on Google maps. There’s a good spot for sunset pictures and big crashing waves at the light beacon.
