Built in the 1930's, Kilohana Plantation is a historic landmark and premier visitor attraction offering visitors and locals a glimpse into Kauai's past combined with assorted island-style activities, dining and shopping. Ride on our Kauai Plantation Railway, winding its way through the plantation's working farms and orchards. Learn about Kauai's history, enjoy the beautiful views and stop to feed the pigs! Take the afternoon to stroll the grounds and explore the 16,000 sq. foot plantation home. Stop in at Koloa Rum Co. for a rum tasting or for a full "Rum & Dining Experience." Visit the various artisan shops located around the grounds and both upstairs and downstairs in the home. Established in 1986, Gaylord's restaurant is a Kauai tradition. Set in the courtyard of the estate, it offers fresh, island-inspired food and beverages for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Make lunch a part of your fun afternoon on the estate or make reservations for a romantic dinner. Memorable by day, unforgettable by night. Or check out Happy Hour in the new Mahiko Lounge. Luau Kalamaku is Kauai's only theatrical luau telling the story of the original Tahitian voyage to the Hawaiian islands. An interactive experience, it offers all the exciting luau features including an imu ceremony, torch lighting, Polynesian knife dance and of course traditional music & hula. Choose one or all of the features that Kilohana Plantation has to offer. Open daily, you'll love the chance to see a piece of Kauai's history while experiencing the best of the island today!

The train ride around the plantation is very pleasant with a entertaining guide. There is a 20 minute stop to feed the animals at the petting zoo. So the train doesn't really go that far, but it is relaxing and worth the trip.

To wonderful and beautiful property. The old plantation the state has been converted into a restaurant, shops and a bit of a museum. Special events are held there as the environment is perfect for your special gathering. Enjoy the rum tasting and you may wish...More

The rum store was closed for inventory but still enjoyed our visit. Walked around the gardens a bit and ventured into most of the little shops. Did not take the train as we did not have the time. Enjoyed our time here.

This trip was a very poor experience for our entire family. They corral you around like cattle, sit you down and make you wait for the next instructions over and over and over the entire experience takes way too long -you spend most of your...More

Spent a lovely afternoon on the plantation's narrated train ride. The open air cars provide a pleasant breeze while traveling through the open fields and jungle areas. We stopped midway to feed leftover rolls to the wild pigs, goats, and chickens. We enjoyed this as...More

There are a number of tourist opportunities at the Plantation. It is a wonderful example of an art deco building built around the early 1900's. It is well preserved. There are shops in the house and a beautiful restaurant on the patio area. It serves...More

I enjoyed puttering around here for the morning. The train ride was relaxing and interesting, and I enjoyed their little art gallery. I do wish that they had a walking path through the trees.

You can get a tour. Busses pulled up. But you could also get a cab. Just sandwiches and a drink in the bar would be worth it. The old growth gardens and craft shows were also great.

I would say you could spend time in the wonderful restaurant and touring the 12 shops as well as the rum tasting which takes almost an hour. Alternatively the museum is worth a visit...we spent a couple of hours here.

You can write an email to them, they answer quickly. The plantation is large and I feel confident that they rent it out for special occasions especially in the winter when they are only open a few days a week.
