Right by the Hyatt, great locals surf beach, nice sand, and close the Hyatt pool bar! Parking is very close to the beach.

Visited this beach several times during our week's stay as we stayed at the nearby resort. We also visited almost every beach on the island, sometimes 2 and 3 a day....this was one of the better ones, though the waves could be quite rough. lots...More

We hung out here for a bit after hiking the Heritage Trail which starts at the side of Shipwreck Beach. The beach was easy to find, and we parked in the lot by the Hyatt. There is a bathroom right there by the parking lot...More

We used Pastor Harold Kilborn and he selected the spot. A beautiful location for a sunrise service with the turtles even coming in to shore during the service. My wife called it the most memorable event of our trip.

A wonderful cove to wander around. We lived it. There are many great beaches on Kauai, not all are sandy. Some are rocky and interesting

We really loved this beach! It was beautiful! "playing" in the waves is one heck of a workout but worth it!

Looking for good surfing or boogie boarding, go to this beach. Great waves for this time of year and it wasn't crowded. There is also cliff jumping off to the left but be careful with the big swells coming to shore. Aloha!

The Point at Poipu is located near Shipwreck Beach, which is a beautiful spot. You can easily walk up a trail to the top of the rock to watch sunrises or gaze into the ocean. The hike is quite easy and enjoyable. A wonderful place...More

Large area for sunbathing. A nice tree line where you can get out of the sun if you want to avoid the sun. Large waves for surfing but not a good swimming beach. However, you can put your feet in and get wet.

Drive past the Hyatt and take the road to the right between the Hyatt and the golf course. Shipwreck Beach parking lot is at the end.

Hi! A friend recommended a tour to Waimea Canyon with an older gentleman guide named Juan Lugo. She said he is a wonderful storyteller and is native to the island and its colorful folklore. I am trying to find which tour company he is with so I can book the trip with the fabulous guide, Juan Lugo. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you! Leslie Bride

I'm sorry I can't help you. We went as a hiking group from Vancouver Island and were self directed. I didn't notice any guided groups of hikers.
