NTBG’s McBryde Garden is located on the south shore of Kauai in the picturesque Lawai Valley. Tours run daily and include a ride from the Visitors Center in Poipu along a scenic coastal route and continue along the valley rim on a former sugarcane train railbed. Visitors disembark on the valley floor to explore this outstanding garden, known for its diverse collection of tropical plants. McBryde, NTBG’s flagship garden, is home to the world’s largest collection of native Hawaiian flora, many endangered or having gone extinct in the wild. It is a “botanical ark”, filled with palms, flowering trees, ornamental flowers, and unusual plants from the tropical world.National Tropical Botanical Garden is a nonprofit institution, dedicated to saving and studying tropical plants.

We visited the McBryde Garden last weekend and really enjoyed our time and self-guided tour. Once we arrived, a very welcoming and friendly guide, his name was Juan, was driving us from the welcome center to the gardens and told wonderful stories. His genuine hospitality,...More

This is a beautiful garden and very well maintained. You can take guided tours or self tours. Maps of gardens are well marked. Excellent setting for photos of amazing flowers.

I chose McBryde over Allerton because it was self-guided and supposed to be less formal. I DID expect lots of flowering plants in a reasonably small area similar what I've experienced in other botanic gardens I've been in around the world. This garden covers a...More

We were only able to do a small portion of this place, as I had hurt my back the day before, so I didn't get to see everything I had hoped for. I did enjoy what we saw, and when we go back in October,...More

We returned to explore the McBryde Garden a few days after doing the guided Allerton tour. We had considered purchasing the combo ticket, but felt the need to rush through both gardens in one day would dilute the experience. We packed a simple lunch, dressed...More

Initially we were a little taken aback by the prices here - $30 per person for a self guided visit to the McBryde Garden and a lot more for a guided tour of the Allerton Garden. The $30 option was more in our price range...More

Guide was a newby and a little short on info. Don't take combo if you want to see art in Allerton. Very nice, lots of plant variety. They are doing a good work.

We did our own tour of this beautiful property. The trees and plants are just gorgeous. We hopped on a bus at our time share, were taken to the property and took a leisurely 2 hour stroll and enjoyed filming some of these amazing sights....More

Aloha Cindy - We do not have any Rainbow Eucalyptus tress in the McBryde Garden, but we do have a few at the South Shore Visitors Center. They are such a beautiful tree!
