Description:

Princeville Botanical Gardens is a family owned and operated garden...

Princeville Botanical Gardens is a family owned and operated garden paradise located in the Princeville area on the magnificent north shore of Kauai. The Robertson Family, with the help of their close gardening friend, Michael, have transformed their 8-acre retirement home into a breathtaking garden with dramatic landscaping in two steep valleys. The Robertsons grow a small cacao (chocolate) grove and part of every tour is a chocolate tasting and lesson on how chocolate is made. Longer tours include samples of delicious tropical fruits. The fun, educational tours of the garden include ethnobotanical and medicinal uses of plants, stories and information about native Hawaiian and "canoe" plants, and much more about a diverse collection of species from around the world. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Visitors can experience the garden on pre-scheduled tours on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Tours are not recommended for children under 6 years. We strongly recommend good walking shoes. Please be sure to call us before visiting. Thank you!

We visited the gardens on October 21st. Lori was our guide, we had a wonderful tour with lots of information about the gardens and the beautiful plants. We had a short intermission and learned a lot about chocolate, how it's made and which chocolate has higher percentage of cacao. We tried different fruits from the gardens. All unbelievably delicious!!! We... More

We thought we had seen everything in Kauai since it was our 7th visit to our favorite island. Luckily we stayed in Princeville and had the option of a 2for1 at the Botanical Gardens. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that the founder was from San Diego very close to where we lived in the beach area. Not only that... More

A very educational and interesting garden. You learn much about the Hawaiian Flora. The mouintain backdrop and views make it a very special place to visit. I was hoping the gardens would have also include more structured use of the natural plants to showcase their beauty more.

Three hour tour with many trees, shrubs and flowers that I have never seen. A great description was given by our guide Harold. Family owned and developed, and they have added more since opening in 2005. My 5 year old granddaughter was Harold's shadow and asked many great questions about the plants and bees (apiary) we saw
