Description:

Princeville Botanical Gardens is a family owned and operated garden...

Princeville Botanical Gardens is a family owned and operated garden paradise located in the Princeville area on the magnificent north shore of Kauai. The Robertson Family, with the help of their close gardening friend, Michael, have transformed their 8-acre retirement home into a breathtaking garden with dramatic landscaping in two steep valleys. The Robertsons grow a small cacao (chocolate) grove and part of every tour is a chocolate tasting and lesson on how chocolate is made. Longer tours include samples of delicious tropical fruits. The fun, educational tours of the garden include ethnobotanical and medicinal uses of plants, stories and information about native Hawaiian and "canoe" plants, and much more about a diverse collection of species from around the world. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Visitors can experience the garden on pre-scheduled tours on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Tours are not recommended for children under 6 years. We strongly recommend good walking shoes. Please be sure to call us before visiting. Thank you!

This botanical garden is a must see in Princeville! If you love gardens this is not to be missed. Not only is the property absolutely stunning but the information shared by our guide Harold was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and genuine. A delight to be guided by someone so caring and to be on a property that has... More

After a WONDERFUL tour, which was well worth the admission price, our guide mentioned that the owners of the Princeville Botanical Gardens have it up for sale. This was shocking to me, as I didn't realize it was a private, for profit, business. I have no problem with that, but, given how beautiful the grounds are, I imagine some fabulously... More

The beautifully terraced gardens along Anini stream were lovely to see. Our guide was knowledgeable and interesting. Wear good closed toe shoes. It can be muddy and slippery.

We, my husband and I, have been on this tour twice. Once approximately 2-3 years ago and then again this January (2017) with our mother. The guides are consistently friendly and knowledgeable. They educate you on endemic vs indigenous vs "canoe" plants and treat you to tasty in-season fruits grown locally (most right on the property). The cacao information and... More

We spent the morning on a three hour tour of this privately owned botanical garden. It had rained all night the night before and was raining off and on during our tour. The entire tour is outside though there is a point around half way through the tour where we sit under an open air pavilion and learn more about... More

We very much enjoyed walking through this garden. The little bites of fruit were great. The chocolate was amazing. Very informative guide. But if they offer you bug spray, don't say no. I wish I had used it.

Totally enjoyed our 3 hour group tour with Harold. He gave a good balance of stories, botanical information, plant history and process of how the gardens developed. Loved the garden's design by Michael and large variety of endemic and canoe plants.

The good folks at the PBG provide a wonderful experience for anyone who is even a little interested in plants and a sumptuous feast for any botanical buffs visiting Kauai. From the initial greeting right on through the tour ... everything was first class. Our guide Jenny was terrific - fun, engaging and informative. The chocolate part of the visit... More

Id happily pay $20 for this but not the 75. Spent an hour tasting store bought chockolate with no connection to Hawaii was bizarre. Then another 2.5 hours on a very strict , very slow, muddy tour. Another couple tried to run away buwith got turned back. Another couple said they felt like hostages . It's okay if they relaxed... More

We regret that you had a less than positive experience. We strive to give everyone who visits our beloved garden an experience that informs and inspires. We take great responsibility and joy in this quest. Our tour fees are competitively priced, usually falling below those of other gardens offering similar experiences here on Kauai. We operate as efficiently as possible... More

Can't remember the name of the man who guided the tour. He's been there a long time and was very knowledgeable about the plants, and history of the place.....The tour was both beautiful and educational and tasty with samples of fruit and chocolate! We thoroughly enjoyed it!
