Ulupalakua is home to MauiWine which offers one of the Islands' most enticing products - wines that carry the essence of Hawai'i, the spirit of Maui. MauiWine welcomes you to taste the fruit of the island in wines made from their 23 acre vineyard on the slopes of Haleakala, as well as the tropical wines made from the famed Maui Gold pineapples - all grown right here in Upcountry Maui. Visitors to MauiWine gather in the tasting room located in the King's Cottage, built in 1874 specifically for the celebrated visits of King Kalakaua, last reigning King of Hawai'i. Guests are invited to follow in the footsteps of Ali'i (royalty) and Paniolo (cowboys) on a guided tour of the historical grounds. A journey into Ulupalakua's illustrious past, a tour of the Makee estate, and a glimpse at the creation of Maui wines are all a part of the experience. Welcome to Ulupalakua... where the storied history blends with modern day agriculture, creating the perfect setting for the islands only winery and vineyard. Time Well Spent

This winery is worth checking out! I liked the sweet pineapple wine, it was very good! I would recommend a trip out here if you enjoy wine tasting.

This was a perfect stop on our way back from the Hana trip. The area is beautiful! What a nice surprise to discover that the wine tastings were free! You get 3 free wine tastings! It has been a while since my husband and I have been to a FREE wine tasting...and three generous tastes at that. What a delight! We recommend that you include Maui Wine on your Upcountry tour. Maui Wine must have what it takes; we bought two delicious bottles as a result of our tastings. My favorite was the Pineapple Splash.... More

My latest Maui trip included visiting this winery, free tasting was great. The history of the property is awesome. The tasting room is the former (and still named as such) The King's Cottage for King Kalākaua, his hula circle trees have been turned into wood sculpture. This is where the hula dance was performed for him while at the ranch.... More

This winery is located on the former, historic Ranch. Many of the buildings from that era are still intact, including the King's House, now the tasting room. The bet wine made there are pineapple wines. Truly unique in flavor. Highly recommended. There are tours of the winery and the buildings that comprised the still working ranch. In addition, just across... More

A must stop on your tour of the island! The grounds are gorgeous and the wines are yummy! They let us try 3 wines at no cost and our favourite was the pineapple white wine, it was soooo good! They have a great gift shop and they do ship their wines within most of the US. You will no doubt... More

Not sure how we would feel about pineapple wine as I'm not a huge dessert wine fan, but this was amazing! I loved the Maui Blanc as it was more dry and not as sweet. However, I really enjoyed the Maui Splash as well. I wish we bought more bottles to take to the mainland!

There were tours available but we didn't go on any because we had our kids with us. We ducked into the store and bought a couple of bottles while they were playing in the gardens. Nice little stop that i wish we had spent more time at.

If you take the Hana drive this is a great place to stop before heading out. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. We found ourselves being told more about Maui Wine than we ever imagined! And the samples are excellent!
