Absolutely amazing sunset from the top. Don’t spend the $120-150 on the dinner tours, cheaper to hire a car and drive up yourself!! If you’ve had experience driving around bends in your home country you should have no problem with this drive. I also hear...More

Recently drove up Haleakala to view the sunrise. You must make reservations ($1.50 per vehicle), with the National Park Service first, as only 150 vehicles are allowed for each sunrise. No reservation, no entry, between the hours of 3:00am and 7:00am, no reservation needed after...More

We were glad to prepare for the temperature change, it was COLD! The day was cloudy, but despite the clouds, we still had a view. This is a must see!

We booked a reservation for sunrise about 1 week prior to our visit. We left our hotel (the Westin Ka'anapali) around 3:45am and arrived in time to get a good parking spot and a great viewing spot (there isn't a bad spot to view!). We...More

I have done both the sunrise and sunset at Haleakala. First piece of advice, regardless of which you do is DRESS WARM. We wear two layers of pants, a couple layers up top with a jacket, beanie, gloves and hiking boots; it's legit freezing up...More

Incredible trip. So with it. But it was pretty cold even for a northern Canadian so don't go unprepared. Spectacular!

First time to the park. Unfortunately the trails were closed to the pools. The water falls were beautiful. Rangers were helpful and offered great information about the park.

We have lived in Hawaii for years, but finally made it to Haleakala National Park on Maui. We think all visitors to Maui should go up. You have to get permission from the park to go up at sunrise as they only allow so many...More

We used Uber several times while on Maui so that is not an issue. However, getting a cell signal at the summit of Haleakala is something that may be a challenge. I do not remember using my phone while at the summit. Maybe a... More

Absolutely! The easiest way is to check with the concierge of your hotel / facility and they can make arrangements for cost and pick up. If your place does not have a concierge, there are numerous tour companies around... More
