We did a lunch food tour of Lahaina. Gigi gave the 8 of us a terrific tasting of Hawaiian food and drinks. Lots of food. Delightful tour guide. Gigi told us a lot about Hawaiian history and culture in addition to the tour. This is a wonderful way to start your trip to Hawaii.

We had a great time with our guide Cy checking out some great food in Lahaina along with some delicious cocktails. It was a small group (approx 10) which let us get to know each other. Cy told us a bit about the history of each restaurant as well as giving us tips about what to see and where to shop while in Maui. He even checked on us once we parted to let us know the road back to Waliea had closed due to a fire (that was a Hawaiian adventure! LOL). He was attentive to everyone's needs (elevator for stroller, non-drinkers, smokers etc) and had some fun door prizes at the end. Overall a terrific experience. Would highly recommend for any age.

This is one of the best tasting tours I have been on, Because of this tour we have tried other tasting tours when travelling and although they have all been good none have been as good as this one. I did this tour two years ago with my dad and cousin and it was so amazing i booked it for my best friend and her husband last year when they visited Maui. This year I actually wanted to do it again for my little sisters 21st birthday but due to some unforeseen financial circumstances we had to cancel. I would recommend this tour to anyone travelling to Maui its worth it and Gigi is very accommodating.

My Mom and I did this our last day of our trip. We had a great time and were so full by the end! Great way to try several different places, enjoy a stroll and learn about the island.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tasting tour in Lahaina. We hit 4 restaurants and a gelato shop all of which were clean and had great food. Everything was in walking distance which gave some time for the food to go down between meals and to see sites. Old Lahaina Fish Co even had a card for my wife any I wishing us a happy honeymoon. Our tour guide did a great job and kept it a fun time. He took photos of us throughout the tour at the different stops. I highly recommend this tour!

Our guide, Kai (Kamala), was great. He is a genuine gentleman and generously shared his wealth of information on the restaurants, the foods, the drinks, the marine wildlife, and the islands. The foods that we tasted were diverse (deviled eggs, Poke, slider, cheese and meat platter, and others) and plentiful. Be careful not to overeat before the end of the tour to enjoy the finale, gelato. I highly recommend this tour.

We've been to Maui many times now and are always looking for something fun and new.
We've had good experiences with food tours in other cities. This one did not disappoint.
Went to 4 restaurants (Fleetwood’s on Front Street, Lahaina Fish Co, Pi 808, Sale Pepe ) and gelato place. This was more than enough great food. Our guide was personable and quite knowledgeable of the restaurants and Maui. He was a great resource on other things to do on the island. Highly recommended

A fun tour that visits four restaurants in Lahaina. You get a drink and an appetizer or entree at each restaurant so pace yourself...there is more food than most of us can eat. Kai is a great guide who gave us info on the history of the area as well as tips on local food and restaurants along the way. He made it fun with a contest at the end to test our recall of what he had been telling us along the way. All in all it was a great evening and a good way to get oriented to Lahaina eats. Suggest you do this early in your trip so you have the info before you start booking restaurants. p.s. beware of birds in the branches above when standing under the Banyan tree.

Kai was our guide for this lunch tour. It happened that my family of four was the only group signed up, so we essentially lucked into a "private" tour. It was great. We have done food tours in other cities, so we knew we would probably like it. Kai was very personable and gave us a great deal of information about Maui, Hawaii, and the food scene. Our high-school age daughters were with us, and they enjoyed it, too. Plenty of food -- arrive hungry for the tour. Three stops, only moderate walking, good food, delicious drinks, good tourist information -- what's not to like?! The only minor glitch was that apparently we didn't get the food selection we were supposed to get at our first stop. Hawaii Tasting Tours felt bad enough about this that they later hand-delivered a package to our hotel containing a large bottle of beer, a bottle of sparkling juice, some crackers, and some ahi spread. They also apologized for the problem by email and text. This extra gift was not necessary, but it made me feel really good that they care enough to treat their customers right. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants a nice Lahaina food experience.

Is this worth it or would it be better to just have dinner reservations at one or more of these restaurants? What makes this worth it?
HTT-Maui
Waikiki, HI
Aloha Amanda P., great question! The tour is very unique and truly caters to "feed your 5 senses". You don't just sit at the best tables, eat specially designed tasting plates paired with signature alcoholic beverages, but you also have a a fun guide at your side where you get to learn about the incredible rich history in Hawaii, the culture, the language and so much more. It's not just a meal, it's truly an experience. You will meet new friends, have lots of photos taken and feel like the rock star that you are! What makes it worth it is that it's not just eating at a restaurant, you will actually eat at 4 of them, but it's the experience throughout the evening. And we don't just stop there. We reach out with tons of food for thought after and are happy to be a contact point not just for the tour but always, for you, your ohana, family etc. Hoaloha means friend in Hawaiian and that's a priceless element of the tour vs a simple dining experience. Please contact us directly should you have any other questions and of course, Noho Pōloli! (Stay Hungry!)

Would anyone recommend this food eccursion for kids? I see they have a kids menu but dont know if it worth paying $89 and if they would have fun. Also, do they do substitution for those who have allergies?

Hi, I am traveling in October to Maui for my honeymoon/1 year anniversary celebration. My husband and I are great foodies at heart and would love to experience true local Hawaiian tradition and food. Which days would be best for the tour and do you have a sample itinerary of what we would see from your tour? Thank you so much!

Aloha VeeM20, lejaceman and byebye2u, mahalo nui, thanks so much for the quick responses! VeeM20, great questions.
Before I respond, sending you an aloha filled congratulations, looks like lots of celebrating coming up for you! As for your questions, unfortunately, we are limited as to what we respond to on this forum but please go to our website, the address is located on the upper right portion of this page, and you will see the full itinerary and menu there. The best way to describe the food on our tour would be an eclectic fusion of foods that are locally sourced and represent each of our islands well with an Asian influence.
Please reach out to us directly through our website and it would be our delicious pleasure to send you lots more food for thought.
Until then....Noho Pololi-Stay Hungry!!

Hi there. We will be staying in Maui for 2 weeks end of December. I have 2 boys, aged 8 and 10. Is the tour suitable for kids this age? Also, my one son has a nut and shellfish allergy. Will this make it impractical for our family? Thank you,

Aloha Yolande, great questions! Mahalo Gigi and jhwwre for the quick answers, you are too 'no ka oi', the best!
For keiki's, children, that young, I would recommend our lunch tour. It's much shorter and has a specially designed menu for keiki's with fun virgin cocktails. The tour is fast paced so there is little time for boredom for them but our magic guide bags have lots of tricks in them should keiki's get distracted. Please feel free to contact us directly through our website for more information as I am not allowed to post that here.
Wishing you a mele kalikimaka and we hope it is delicious!

How far in advance should we book tickets?
Len L
Manasquan, NJ13 contributions
We had no problem booking either time. We booked about a month in advance. Not every day is open. That could be because the tour is not available that day or that the tour is full that day. It would be good to loosely have an idea of what you wanted to do on Maui and when you might want to take the tour. A lot of things in Maui you can book when you arrive. Some restaurants and events will fill up. So if you have a date/time in mind, say sunset on a particular day, you would want to book that restaurant/event early prior to your arrival. The Tasting Tour does have a cancellation policy that you can see by going to booking on their website. I have pasted it below for your convenience. The policy includes changing the date should something arise. They are very easy to work with so do not hesitate to email them if you have other questions. If this is your first trip to Maui I would book the tour early in your trip. Besides the great food and commentary you can ask questions concerning anything you are considering doing on your vacation or simply get some good input on what to do. For example they recommended a snorkeling site that I was not aware of that we went to. Here is the cancellation policy.
“Plans changed or you've just lost your appetite? Well, no worries, it's easy to reschedule or cancel your tour if something comes up. Just call us at least 48 hours in advance and we'd be happy to assist. Unfortunately, reservations cancelled within 48 hours of the event are non-refundable including no shows. For groups of 6 or more, 7 days advance notice is required.**There is a 10% cancellation processing fee. By participating on the tour, you and all participants in your group agree to HTT Terms and Conditions click link to open.”

Aloha kakou,
Mahalo nui for the excellent answers and RLC, you are too 'no ka oi!', the best, amazing suggestions!!!
I would naturally recommend our tour if we were open. We are closed on Sundays until our Oahu tour is fully running. We delve into the language, culture, pineapples, shave ice, islands, Hawaiian history...you name it and sounds ideal for what you are seeking.
In the meantime, I can't make any attachments here but please feel free to email us through our website. I can forward a number of items that might assist in planning and we are always happy to be a touch point for you on the island whether you book with us or not. Our goal is to ensure you have an incredible time in paradise, food or non-food, we are here for you!
Until then, Noho Pololi, Stay Hungry!
