If you want to experience the essence of Maui's magic, this is your ticket. Pono Fried is an exceptional expert on all things Hawaiian, and his love for Maui is evident from the moment he greets you with a lei of fresh flowers (most likely handmade from his own garden) to the exotic fruits he shares from his own farm.... If you have one day to spend exploring Maui and you want to make the best of it, then you should go on a private personalized tour with Pono Fried. We spent 11 hours with Pono exploring the road to Hana (on the windward side of the island). It was an incredible treat. The concierge at our hotel recommended Pono,... More

What can I say about the man Pono Fried, allot. A caring compassionate man who wants his guests to experience all that Hawaii offers and more. We were referred to Pono by discerning friends who had toured with him on their own family excursion to Hawaii years prior. Spring Break is our main family vacation and we spare no expense... More

As first time visitors to Maui, we researched many possible ways to explore Maui's wonder and beauty. After a careful search, we chose to spend a day (you decide the number of hours) with Pono Fried of "Open Eye Tours". It was an enchanting experience that we will never forget and would highly recommend! I am a traveler who enjoys... More

These are just a couple of the fairy-tale things we saw with Pono on our tour. Pono sent us many options ahead of time, and allowed us to pick and choose what we wanted to see and do. Luckily for us, we were able to do everything on our wish list + more. We are firm believers in taking private... More

If you want a run of the mill tour, visiting only the touristy places of Maui, don't tour with Pono Fried. If you are truly interested in learning about the culture, the history, the people, the language, the land, and if you want to find some inspiring, beautiful, hidden spots on Maui, than you need to book a tour with... Yesterday we took a leisurely walk on the windward side of Maui with Pono Fried of Open Eye Tours and Photos. We were promised a unique experience and Pono really delivered. We began our walk with a little picnic. Pono shared with us some of the fruit from his farm, taro chips and gingerbread baked with fresh ginger. The picnic... More

I wanted my kids' (& sister's) first trip to Hawai'i to be educational, fun and memorable and that's exactly what we got. I requested a tour that was historical and cultural at the beginning of our stay to set the stage for everything else that we saw, did, tasted, heard and touched during the remainder of our holiday. Pono took... More

My family spent a day touring with Pono of Open Eye Tours this past Christmas and we had a fantastic, action-packed and fascinating day. Pono meticulously crafted an eight hour tour that was equally terrfic for my husband and I as it was for my two boys, ages 19 and 13. Our day included exploring spectacular, scenic beach areas as... Having enlisted the services of private guides several times during our travels so as to maximize our time and avoid the large impersonal group tours, I could not be happier to have found Pono and Open Eye Tours. There really is so much to see on Maui and Pono was the best private guide experience we have ever had. Communication... More
