This was our first time doing a food tour. It was a great way to learn about the history of the town and explore the stores and cafes as we walked through the town. We had been in Paia a couple of times but never went into half of the places we did on this tour. It was very interesting... More

I have taken food tours in several cities across the U.S. and enjoyed them all. Local Tastes of Maui did not disappoint. It was a combination of walking tour, history and a variety of delicious food. Highly recommended.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of food on this tour. We could not eat all the offerings and ended up taking home an entree, delicious cinnamon buns and apple bananas for a snack later in the day. The desserts and newly created smoothie for our tour were superb. All the 10 food establishments were within a block. Our... More

I think the historical portion of the tour is very interesting and educational. Some of the food sampling is very good such as Gelato and Coffee place. However, the rest of the food establishments are not really worth visiting in my opinion and do not belong on the food tour. The pancake is very basic, the ice cream is ok,... More

Thank you for reviewing our tour and we appreciate that you liked our historical portion. Our mission is to showcase our local merchants serving local products and we have received many positive responses to the selections they provide. The problem we often have is being compared to other tours (I have been on the Honolulu tour as well) that charge... More

I have done two other food tours in two different cities. They were awesome. However, this tour was at best avwrage. Most of it had to do with the way this tour was presented, and not due to the food/info about Maui/Paia. Our tour started off with our guide reading from a script. Our guide was not new to the... We didn't know what to expect when we signed up for this tour but we really wanted to see the town of Pa'ia and thought this would be a fun way to start the day. Our guide Sharon was great! She is a local and knew a lot about the town and all of its gossip! Like she told us,... More

We have been on many culinary history tours. Our tour guide was Sharon. Sharon was a very nice women but really ill prepared. I knew we were in trouble when we met at the pioneer in and she began reading from plastic covered sheets and pass them around for us to see pictures. History info was very superficial. Most of... We are sorry you were disappointed in your tour. Sharon has had many positive reviews on Trip Advisor and works in Lahaina so is very familiar with the area. We have found the historic pictures to be helpful in visualizing the towns before the present time. We like to point out the buildings still standing for comparison to historic days.... More

This was a great tour. While leisurely strolling through Lahaina, our guide, Kent, taught us about the history and culture of this beautiful place. We visited about 10 establishments and sampled some great food. We had macadamia nut pancakes, local fresh roasted coffees, shave ice, gelatos, wraps, sandwiches, caprese salad, fresh maui gold pineapple and more. Got to meet the... More

My family and I booked a tour with the "Local Tastes of Maui" focusing on Pa'ia. We decided to do the Pa'ia tour because we knew the least about the little plantation town and wanted to experience both the town and its' culinary offerings. We were very pleased with our choice. Our guide was friendly, funny, and shared with us... More

The Lahaina food tour was informative and a great introduction to 9 different food sites. Kent also threw in historical information about the area and sites that we visited. Impressed with the Cafe Cafe coffee...best I've tasted and I have tried lots. Also the shaved ice was amazing nothing like shaved ice I have tasted in other states. I would... More
