this was a great beach to hang out and swim! There were two sea turtles lounging around when we arrived at 11:00am. One actually got up and walked to the water and swam away. They say the best time to see more turtles is around sunset after the turtles have gone out searching for their food. This beach is where... More

The parking can be competitive, but this beach is very fun. The waves are large, and there are many surfers. You can also see the sea turtles here.

It was worth the hour drive from Wailea just to see them. At 5pm, as the sun was setting, I counted over 80, with more arriving regularly. It's amazing that they pull up like stacked parking, one right up against the next. First, stop at the top lot for an amazing view out over the ocean and the surfers coming... More

Went to this beach just to see the turtles! Did not disappoint!!! There were about 20 turtles (honu) just resting on the sand, it was so cool to see in person. Even got to watch some more turtles swim up onto the shore to join their friends. This didn't really look like a beach to just lay out on. Many... More

We stopped here late in the afternoon to possibly see the big sea turtles. There had to be at least 25 of them on the sand enjoying the warmth of the afternoon sun. It was a great place to stretch your legs after a day trip on the road to Hana. There were lots of surfers also.

There's plenty of parking & facilities. There are usually food trucks & fresh fruit stands as well. Usually surfers & wind surfers. We saw half a dozen green sea turtles resting on the beach.

It is a very picturesque area! Surfers were out riding the waves and having a great time in the warm sun.

This place is world-famous to the pros, and it is really fun for everyone to sit and watch them on the waves from the overlook. Go on a windy day. Which is most days. NOT a good place to learn, though! Go to Kanaha or ask at the surf stores in Kahului.

We stopped here three times during our 7 day Maui vacation. 2 of those there were lots of surfers and the final day a huge swell came in and the wave were vicious. They were probably 20' or more high. No surfing allowed! But, the waves were unbelievable. We then travelled up the Road to Hana about 3-4 miles at... More
