We went to see the turtles and saw so much more. We talked to the locals and how they do their net fishing. Saw a unicorn fish. Also so some other sea animals. Great place to visit. Gets super busy around 4:00 but it is worth it.

No time to stop so this review is based on the quick people watching we did on our way through the parking lots! Looked like lots of people were there to see the sunset and play, waves weren't high then so not much surfing but people in the water for sure and the best part was seeing a young man... More

GO to Hookipa at sundown or before and you will see the turtles nesting on the beach on the left of the lifeguard station. They look like rocks, but go closer and you will see them. Amazing

We stopped by Ho'okipa Beach Park after our bike ride down Haleakala volcano in hopes of seeing some kite surfers and turtles. We weren't disappointed! The big waves were more than we would want to swim in, but the beach was beautiful and we enjoyed watching wind surfers. The highlight of our visit was being able to observe over 25... More

Big waves, so it attracts local surfers & kite/wind surfers. Green sea turtles come to rest on both ends of the beach, daily. Has lifeguards. The overlook up above offers great views, and their are food trucks.

The surf report on surfline.com said 11-14 foot , it was more like 14- 20 foot , SICK SICK SICK we blew off the rest of our Haiku drive and stayed to watch these guy and girls and Kids Shred hard all day , it was like watching a... We stopped here by chance, and were pleasantly surprised! Its a beautiful gold sand beach, huge waves, strong winds, and surfers to be seen. But our highlight was seeing the many turtles swimming near the shore and some actually sun bathing right on the beach! Worth the time to sneak a peak at the huge gentle creatures.

Beautiful beach, breathtaking surfers and kite surfers, usually a good truck handy. Portable toilets. A beautiful place to hang out and watch for the big one. Hang 10, brah.

This is a beautiful seafront park with an assortment of brave souls wind surfing in challenging waves just off this beach. This is well worth the short drive from Piai. This is not a place for us tourists to swim. That is why God made Baldwin Beach for swimmers on the west side of town.

In the evening the huge sea turtles come ashore and sort of get tucked in for the night. Sort of stack them selves close to each other. I think we saw about 200 of them make their way inch by laborious inch. Even at 7:00 M there were volunteers there to give you details and talk about the magnificent creatures.
