This is a wonderful beach where you can have a picnic. It has parking and restrooms. The view is amazing. It was raining the day we were there but it didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves as there are covered tables. The day we went, there were about twenty sea turtles on the beach. There is a rope in the... More

We visited Hookipa Beach and the lookout twice - on the way to Hana and on the way back. Here's why... On the road to Hana, around mile marker 8.8, the turn off lets you drive into the carpark at the top lookout. From here you look down on the beach pavillions, may see windsurfers in the water, and could... More

We parked in the lot and walked right - to the end of the walkway. At the end, we looked over the railing and saw at least 20 turtles relaxing on the sand. As we stood and watched, another 20 or so turtles came out of the surf. We were on a overlook of the beach - probably 15 feet... More

We went there for sunset and came across a lot of Hawaiian green sea turtles swimming in between the rocks in the ocean. Amazing view. Best place for couples to hangout. Good even for families to get their snacks in the evening and hangout. Amazing sunset.

We visit Maui annually and always make it a point to have lunch/dinner at nearby Mama's Fish House(a must for those who love fresh local fish). As an added plus, we always stop at Ho'okipa to watch and photograph the many world class wind and kite surfers. Their acrobatics on water is right out of something you would find on... More

This is a truly a most beautiful beach for those who love water sports. White sands and a great view. When the surfs up parking may be a problem but definitely worth the visit, so be patient. A walk up the lookout allows the opportunity for some great pictures. The first day we stopped by the beach was covered by giant... More

This park/beach is beautiful. Sail board surfing is the game here. One time they were filming it from three-four helicopters for Maui promos. Paia is a quaint town with boutiques and restaurants/bars and nearby is Makawao where HOT ISLAND GLASS is located, We've purchased number pieces of beautiful blown glass here. All made while filming it being produced! Awesome!

This north shore beach has it all. Kite and wind surfing, surfing, and Honu. I suggest going in the afternoon when the trade winds pick up to watch some world class wind surfing. Then head to the eastern end of the beach near the cliff to see sea turtles basking in the warm sun. Please be respectful of the turtles,... More

I'm almost afraid to review this beautiful beach as it can become too popular! It seemed to be already popular with local surfers and snorkelers We walked the beach and saw a gorgeous monk seal basking in the sun. As we walked to the other end, we saw a turtle on the beach and in the 30 minutes we stayed... More

Ho'opika Beach seems like its one of a kind... and I think it is. The beach is usually very busy with surfers, windsurfers, tourists and turtles! ..yeah we'll talk about the turtles in a minute. The beach itself is beautiful and the sand is more coarse than normal. The tides can be very strong and rough. I wouldn't recommend snorkelling... More
