We learned about the father from one of our tour guides then stumbled upon the church by accident. We went inside and there are beautiful stained glass windows all around, worth the visit.

Gothic style Holy Rosary Church is built in the Gothic style with magnificent stained glass windows and an impressive memorial to Father Damien. This is an active church, with gift shop that is open 30 minutes prior to mass. The Father Damien memorial is carved from Italian marble and was erected in 1976. If in Paia stop by for a look.

This site is only a few minutes from "downtown" Paia and it's worth the trip. On the right is a memorial to Father Damien.

My favourite church in Maui. Beautiful stained glass windows adorn this church which is lovely. What I love most is the monument to Father Damien who contracted leprosy from the straw of a young boy. The monument is quite hard hitting with a before and after effect. Loved this place.

As we traveled from Paia towards Makawao, we were surprised to find this beautiful church and its shrine to Saint Damian.
Inside the church, there are statues of the various saints and depictions of the Stations of the Cross. Taken as artwork, these are wonderfully rustic. Taken as symbols of the Catholic faith, they are very traditional.
It is always a simple pleasure to stop at a wayside church or temple.

If you're heading up to Makawao from Paia you may miss this quaint little church on the right hand side of Baldwin Ave. Located across of Paia School, Holy Rosary Church offers a quiet respite from the hustle and bustle from the busy beach town below. A memorial to Father Damien is located on property as well as a little gazebo.
A wonderful place for some relaxing reflection.

A little outside of town, stations of the rosary outside and a memorial to Father Damien. A nice stop.

This quaint old church, built in 1926, was originally in Kuau, Maui. Outside in the garden is a shrine to Father Damien with a statue of this priest, who ministered to the leper colony in Molokai and was canonized a saint. Come in and say a prayer or just experience the beauty of the interior, all ohana are welcome. This parish celebrates Mass every day of the week.

We are visiting the mainland, having a great time, but the best part has been the beautiful views and lovely atmosphere in Hawaii. The multitude of delicious foods and tasty coconut are amazing! The peacefulness of Hawaii takes your breath away. It’s so delightful. Unfortunately we’ll be leaving soon. : (
